A little syrupy like morning pancakes. Caramel and a hint of mash whiskey. Brown pour. Copped a can of this at Jazz Fest in Montreal.

A dark brown ale with a thin brown head. In aroma, sweet fruity caramel malt with light licorice notes, molasses, dark fruits and alcohol warmth, OK. In mouth, a sweet fruity caramel malt with dark fruits, light off notes, faint grassy hops, light licorice, alcohol warmth, OK but a bit off. On tap at L’isle de Garde.

Pours a deep brown colour with red highlights, a warm beige head, good retention and creamy lacing. Aromas of fruit cake with the fruits and nuts. Caramel as well. The alcohol just slightly warms up. Flavours of roasted malts, sugars with some notes of anise and loads of dark fruits. Bottled "10 MAI 2013", so over a year ago and still quite good. Goes down too well !

Aroma: Very caramel with supporting whisky or bourbon notes. We can also find prunes and raisin with wood accents. Very aromatic. Appearance: Dark brown / black with ruby glints. Clear. Creamy head, average thickness, density and lasting. No lacing. Taste: Attack is a mix of sweet and bitter notes. A lot of caramel, prunes, molasses, vanilla and wood accents mixed with herbal notes. Mouth feel is velvety without being thick. A more fruity scotch ale than caramel. Interesting

Bottle: Poured a dark opaque brown color ale with a medium size foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma consists of candi sugar and deeply caramelized malt with slightly off grainy notes. Taste is also dominated by deeply caramelized malt with residual candi sugar notes and some slightly of grainy finish. Candy-like esters are quite nice and provide a nice touch of complexity. Body is slightly thin for style with good carbonation with light warming alcohol notes. Well brewed except for those grainy notes which I could have done without.

Bouteille 500ml.
