Pours dark brown with a smallish tan head. Bags of flavour with notes of prunes, raisins, toffee and chocolate. Delicious, long lasting flavours, which disguise the high ABV very well. Great mouthfeel with a long, lingering aftertaste. A superb beer, very suitable at the end of a cold November evening.

Well stored bottle 2018 edition sampled May 2021. I feel I almost have some kind of personal relationship to this beer, have tasted both the Nøgne Ø version and Gahrs homebrew version several times and this is one of my all time favorite Barley Wine so the expectation for this version was high. By my experience the 2-3 years stored bottle gives the kind of just enough oxidation to suit my pallets, at least the previous versions - so this is the first time I taste one of these from 7 Fjell. The body is beautiful clear, deep amber with a small tan head. Aroma is pleasantly oxidated as I was expected with a fine mix of mild roasted dark malt, dry fruit and hint of toffee. Taste is smooth, sweet and malt driven with caramel/toffee, dry fruit, balancing bitterness and the complementary oxidation. Perfect body and long lasting, tasty, pleasant aftertaste that ends with a perfect touch of warming alcohol. So nice.

Bottle. 2018 vintage. It's almost clear in the glass, dark brown in color, with a small but firm beige head. The aroma has a pleasant oxidation, not suprising after three years, with toffee, dark bread crust, some prunes and dates, a touch of tobacco and leather, a pleasant alcohol touch and caramel sauce. It's full-bodied, warming, smooth and sweet, with lots of flavors. Caramel sauce, treacle hints, some oxidation, dark bread crust, dark dried fruits, leather notes, hints of tobacco and some alcohol in the flavor. Lasting warming and sweet finish. A delicious one indeed, tasteful, powerful and worth revisiting. 210516

On tap at BrewDog Tallinn. Clear caramel brown with an off-white head. Almost intensely caramelly and malty with dried fruit and mild hoppy notes. Brings back the memories of the one brewed at Nøgne Ø about a decade ago. Still a bit to much on the sweet side for me, but definitely decent.
