Bottle. Black body under a dense, creamy beige head. Aroma has dark malt, dark chocolate and ripe red berries. Taste is sweet and pleasant with smooth dark malt, chocolate, dry fruit, slightly acidic berries, some kind of sharp bitterness and quite complex. Fine body and long lasting aftertaste. Nice one.

Bottle. It pours a close to black body under a nice finger-thick dark beige head. The aroma has lots of cocoa and dark chocolate, with caramel, some berry hints and a touch of chocolate cake. Cookies too. It's full-bodied, lightly warming and with a smooth carbonation. It's sweet, but not too sweet, with a little bitterness in the back. Coffee, dark chocolate, berries, toffee, brownie, cocoa and some coconut in the flavor, lasting for a good while. A delicious Christmas beer indeed. 200912

Rerate, 500 ml bottle, batch #245/283, from Vinmonopolet Verksgt., Stavanger. ABV is 9.5%. Black colour, large tan head. Aroma of dark chocolate and coffee, a hint of cherries. Moderately roasty flavour, coffee, dark chocolate and cherries again, some lactose sweetness, a hint of brandy. Original rating: Sample from bottle at Fridtjofen's Yule beer tasting 2019. Nearly black colour. Nice roasty aroma, notes of dark chocolate and coffee. Decent roasty flavour too, but the mouthfeel could be fuller. Will re-rate if I have a full bottle.

Forholdsvis pålitelige notater fra årets maritime juleølsmaking ombord på Fridtjofen: 0,5 flaske. Brunsvart med fint skum som varer. Knekk, ristet brød, solbær/bjørnebær, dessertsjokolader. Laang ettersmak. Lettmatrosen er meget tilfreds.

Delt med flere på vår årlige juleølsmaking. Så vidt gjennomskinnelig dyprød. Høyt lysebrunt skum. Sukkertøyaroma med hint av sherry. Myk munnfølelse. Smaken mandler & vanilje. Ikke spesielt mye jul her.

A 500ml bottle bought at Vinmonopolet Langnes. Shared with friends. Pours a stable tan-coloured head over a jet black body. Lacing rings down the glass. Black malty aromas, moments of cocoa. Powerful taste profile of cocoa powder, dark bread and a touch of dark berries. Lingering malt-berry finish, oily palate. Good Yuletide sipper. (Den Store Juleøltesten, Gleipner, Tromsø 22.11.2019).
