Keg at the Old Red Cow - London. Pours clear, rich brown with a dense, creamy off-white head. The aroma holds burnt pine, toasted grains. Light to medium sweet flavour, a little nutty, toasty, with bitter earth and pine, faint bittersweet cocoa. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Bitter on the finish, with more earth, charred pine, burnt grains. Pretty good stuff.

Keg at Mother Kelly’s. It pours deep mahogany brown with a small yellow - white head. The aroma is bitter - sweet, toffee, orange peel, fruit cake, brown bread and chewy malt. The taste is bitter, toasted brown bread, cereal, fruit cake, pine needles, ashy char and burnt toasted wood with a drying wood finish. Medium body and average carbonation. A bit woody perhaps, but overall decent.

Keg at mother kellys. A cloudy red amber brown coloured pour with lasting thin off white head. Aroma is brown malts, earthy and farty. Toasted grains, hint of smoke. Flavour is composed of earthy toasted grains, nutty malts, little tangy green apple. Palate is semi sweet, moderate carbonation, slightly grainy. Meh.

Mother Kelly’s. Keg. Almost clear amber beer, tidy pale tan head. Palate is light dry and finely crisp. Thin malts - some soft creamy sweetness but also earthy. Good hop bite. Marmalade. Floralness getting bitter. Dry bitterish finish shows a touch of tropical fruits. Tasty Brown Ale. 3.6

(Cask at Craft Beer Clerkenwell, London, 19 Apr 2016) Reddish brown colour with foamy, off-white head. Malty, hoppy nose with dark bread, orange pee land caramel. Malty, hoppy taste with notes of caramel, raisins, prunes, orange peel and a generous citric bitterness in the finish. Medium body, with a touch of sweetness. Tasty and well made brown ale with a generous hop character. Nice one.
