Slight fizz with poured and developed a thin, foamy head. Balanced flavour but more bitter than anything else. Crisp, refreshing but not especially memorable.

[Bottle at Langdon Beck YHA] Deep golden-bronze, moderate diminishing head, slight fizz. Bit of lemon, some earthyness. As with most Black Sheep beers, it tastes like it may have had a dead sheep from a peat bog dipped in the vat, although fortunately with this one the rotten ovine flavour is less pronounced than in some. Moderate biscuit bitterness to finish. Really not a big fan of Black Sheep. c5

Brown 500ml bottle best before 28th Nov 2008, drank 13th Feb 2008. Poured into a vase shaped โ€™Old Speckled Henโ€™ pint glass. Another Brit beer that looks like a dark Dort or a light Alt. Old gold in colour with a thin no-head, which makes me think of these two aforementioned German styles of beer. Very un-German in the aroma, more hops and barley than is evident in Germany. A typical English ale smell. Crisp dry and tart in the taste, nothing overpowering, just a good beer. The beer has something about it, difficult to place, but it has both depth and a presence which few 4.7% beers have. I like the normal Black Sheep on cask, it is a regular guest beer in bars around where i live. This is good too and I will look for it on cask.

Small off-white head, over metallic-copper, clear beer. Herbal/grassy smell with a bit of caramel-like aroma (the Demerara?). Rainwater smell, wet dog. Bitterish, fresh-hoppy and the flavour, but not the sweetness of caramel. COยฒ present in the taste; finish is dry-bitter-hoppy. Hints of arachide and even diacetyl. Rather well-carbonated feel; light body, bit slick. Not bad, unspectacular. I wonder about the absence of the wheat in the flavourprofile, and also: wouldnโ€™t this be a whole lot better if reseeded with some yeast, sugar and bottle-conditioning?

Bottle. Cloudy light amber with a coat of off-white head. Aroma of lemon, pears, a little bread.Thinnish body. Fruity taste without much sweetness, a fair bit of citrus, a little biscuity malt. Mildly bitter finish. Carbonation is not huge but enough to make it a little lively.
