Bottle from the Giddy Goat, Sheringham. Deep gold with a thin white head and an aggressive fizz. Mild malt and citrus aroma. Sharp and sour lemon flavour dominates. A touch of white bread and quite a lot of white pepper in the dry and mildly finish. Far too fizzy, and the sourness is not pleasant and clearly not deliberate. I note no-one else has mentioned sourness, so wonder if there was something wrong with this bottle?

Cask at Pigs Ear 2018, day one, 04/12/18. Light golden blonde with an off white cap. Nose is grassy, hint of citric zest, light eggy notes. Taste comprises bitter orange, stewed fruits, citric tinged straw, fruit loaf. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, semi drying close. Sub par for style ... the touch of Burton Snatch on the nose was a touch off putting.

Cask gravity at the pigs ear beer festival 2018. A clear pale gold yellow coloured pour with no head. Aroma is spicy lemon, grass, nettle. Flavour is composed of semi sweet grassy hop, zippy lemon, hedgerow hop,. Palate is semi sweet, little sticky hop, moderate cask condition. Not bad.

Pigs Ear. Cask. Bright clear gold beer, small bubbly white head. Smooth palate, semi dry, reasonable fine carbonation. Light malts, mildly sweet. A little vegetal cabbage underneath. Good tangerine orange, little tangy peel. Mild spice. Has its faults but not hating this at all.

Hazed golden color with a white head. Decent intensity in the aroma. Medium body and an average carbonation level. Moderate sweet and a decent bitterness. Herbal, malty, citric, mild fruity and some floral notes. Ok easy drinkable beer.

Keg tap at Mama Liz’s, Stamford. Mid-gold, fizzy. No head. Precious little aroma for an IPA, just some malt and stale hops. Bittersweet taste turning more bitter at the finish. Bitter aftertaste with a suggestion of orange peel. Pleasant enough but there’s not a lot to this. Maybe Lacons should stick to what they do well?
