Brewed by Marston's, in collaboration with Shipyard Brewing Co. Initially in 2010, as a special (Revisionist American Pale Ale), then as a regular from May 2013, in an extension of the breweries' 15-year pan-Atlantic collaboration. Shipyard started brewing their own version, following Marston's recipe, in 2014.

Dry hopped with real American hop varieties that deliver a refreshing, easy drinking true American pale ale. Take a moment to enjoy!

Shipyard American Pale Ale is a versatile beer style that actually makes a perfect partner to most meals. Citrus flavours work perfectly to complement rich grilled or BBQ meats, spiced foods, fajitas or chilli’s and also some bold cheeses too. The fruity character also means that our American Pale Ale is equally at home paring with more delicate flavour seafoods like lobster or crab. Brewed and packaged in the UK.

Keg @ The Picture House, Morley. Golden with a thick creamy head. Crisp and hoppy, with tropical fruits abundant. These are citrus, not too soured, with a grapefruit aroma and taste.

Draught at The Crown Rivers, Heathrow
Blond color, hazy, with compact head. A crisp Pale Ale, with nice citrusy hopping, balanced and satisfying.

Keg tap at Bankers Draft (JDW), Bedford. Mid gold, some filmy white head and lots of lacing. Honey, tropical fruit and cantaloupe aroma. Bittersweet taste with tropical fruit to the fore. Bitter fruity finish, with a suggestion of resin. Palate is a bit thin. I think this is a pretty good APA all things considered.

Keg at the Back of Beyond (JDW), Reading. Clear golden-amber with a white head and a middling fizz. Pine with some grassy herbal notes. Citrus follows with a little caramel in the mildly bitter finish. The flavours are light but long-lasting and well-balanced, and overall it’s a pretty pleasant and refreshing brew.

Pint from keg at The Chambers, Gloucester. Deep golden colour, moderate white head. Aroma of American hops, citrus, pine, hints of tropical fruits. Nice flavour of a moderate amount of American hops, with the same elements as in the aroma. Very refreshing, but a little more bittering hops for the finish would not hurt.

Draft at the Compleat Angler, Norwich, England. Copper coloured beer with a creamy white head. Mild hoppy aroma. Medium texture, soft carbonation, not as hoppy as expected but certainly a drinkable beer.
