Belgian Style - Strong Ale Winter|

As in the Belgian tradition of brewing Christmas beers, this is our very own version. It is added with orange peel and raisins. The aromas are warming and captivating and swing from nutty to citrus and slight hints of honey. Mouthfeel starts with caramel and honey flavors and lead to cherry and currant flavors with a delicate bitter finish.

Draft. A hazy brown beer with a lazing brown head. The aroma has notes of fruits, dusty hops, caramel, and malt. The flavor is sweet wtih notes of caramel, malt, bread, and fruit, leading to a bitter finish.

33cl bottle, bbe 08/2018. Poured deep brown, near black with a thick off white head. Mild funky, ripe fruity, plummy aroma. Guessing the funk aint intentional but it kinda fits here. Sweet fruity, plummy, ripe fruity flavors, some spices, some warmth. Soaked raisins in finish. Warming.

Draft @ Osteria Del Borgo, Roma. Bottle courtesy opened by the bar manager.

As far as it concerns this beer being a Christmas ale, I’d say it’s pretty well brewed. Whether you like the style or not is a completely different story. It pours dark ruby with a huge, dense, tan head that lasts long. Aroma is red berries, vanilla, hot sweet wine punch. All very Christmas-y. Taste is sweetish, oily, a little boozy. Long finish with no bitterness whatsoever. Season’s greetings!

Bottle from Eataly, Genoa consumed at home Tuesday 6th June 2017 whilst cooking Untraditional Shepherd Pies from the Pie book. This is a far more interesting beer than I was expecting, it does taste more Belgian than I thought, nice dark sugars, pleasant bitterness. Pours chestnut, good clarity, white head. Quite fruity but with a dab of spice drinks much easier than it should. A6 A4 T8 P4 Ov15 3.7
