Take your time to unravel the many layers of flavour in this deep and decadent Imperial Stout. It was brewed with cacao husks to provide rich chocolate dessert flavours, before 16 months in bourbon barrels helped to add further complexity and a warming, boozy kick. Strong and luscious, this beer is meant for sipping, making it ideal for sharing with friends or saving for a special occasion.

Level 6 Bottleshare. Thanks to Fergus. Semi opaque dark brown beer, small pale tan head. Smooth palate, semi dry, decent fine carbonation. Smooth dark malts, a little sweet cream. Quite woody, savoury woody. Treacle. Tangy ripe fruits. Mellow ripe fruity bourbon. Smooth finish. Off the beaten track, not bad.

Many thanks to Kristian for buying and sharing a 750ml bottle at Cloudwater Barrel Tap Room. Black in the glass, spotty lacing from a diminishing tan-coloured head. Cocoa aroma, inviting, woody. Fine mix of cocoa and chocolate to the taste buds, sweet oak and bourbon beneath. Prolonged ending, velvety smooth on the swallow. Lovely. (In friendly company with Kristian, Astrid and TheCellarer, Manchester 01.07.2018).

Shared 750 ml bottle at local tasting. Black colour, small beige head. Moderate aroma of roast malts, moderate chocolate / cocoa, only a hint of bourbon. Rich flavour, medium sweet, lots of roast malts and chocolate / cocoa, moderate bourbon, moderate hops.

75cl bottle. Shared between five at the 30th Jan 2018 meeting of the Shrewsbury Beer Exchange Group (in Chez Sophie). Beer of the night for me, thought this was fantastic. Black bodied with a smooth but thin tanned blanket on top. Rich, slick and viscous, that's just the aroma! Loved the nose, smooth chocolate esters with a bourbon and vanilla twist. The taste was also chocolate first and foremost, again backed up with a bourbon and vanilla flavoured undertone. Awesome beer.

75cl bottle @ monthly tasting, Chez Sophie. Pours dark, thin tan head. Big bourbon on the nose, chocolate. Voluptuous chocolate bourbon on the nose, following up on the palate, good full chocolate, dark malts, moderately sweet bourbon, well-rounded. Excellent BA stout.
