Our Fated Farmer Series is a landmark step toward realizing our foundational vision for Trillium: Build a place that intuitively celebrates the intersection of New England farming, agriculture, brewing, and integrated community experience. The grist of each of the dynamic Fated Farmer wild ales is set on the structure of Valley Malt and is barrel fermented in 500L puncheons with our Native New England Wild Culture and aged for 5-7 months, before refermenting on freshly harvested fruit.

Pouring a soft, pale yellow, the 2020 Vintage of Fated Farmer: Chardonnay offers a bouquet of gooseberry, peach, guava, and a limestone minerality. On the palate, a mild acid profile is complemented by a touch of sweetness. Easy-drinking and gentle, each sip finishes well-rounded and nuanced.

STYLE: Barrel Fermented Wild Ale

Fort Point draught, 8/27/21. Mildly hazy, bright canteloupe-to-brass. No head. Lovely mix of acids in the nose reminds of lambic. Grape isnt overrepresented and there's a delightful sulfur note to it on top of the other random mineral notes. Wow, this reminds me of early 2000s Cantillon. Lots of acid but lots of malt with a ton of sulfur. This is a bit more raw with the acidity but it's in the best company with that comparison. Chardonnay adds a bit more citrus and light grape juiciness while no alcohol or flaw is noted. Juicy and soft in the mouth. Dry and with a bit of acid on the end. I think the aroma is much more successful but the chardonnay notes and malty but attenuated texture are enjoyable. A bit of funk on the end though still a bit more raw/lingering/unbalanced acidity than I'd prefer.

Bottle split at the optimal climatic conditions tasting, Hazlemere, thanks to Fergus 11/08/21. Lightly hazed golden with a decent white covering that fades to a swirl. Nose is pissy citric shreds, funk, green berry must, grass, stewed fruits, vinous, barnyard notes. Taste comprises green berry must, funk, wood must, lemon rind, sharp stoned fruits, funk. Full bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a tarte climax. Decent.

Bottle shared at Colin's place. Thanks. A light hazed bright yellow gold coloured pour with a halo of white head. Aroma is light earthy grains, straw, lemon, funky farmyard, white grape, little vinous funk. Flavour is composed of semi sweet, sharp apricot, fuzzy peach, tart citrus, lime. Palate is semi crisp, dry, tangy lime, highish carbonation,. Nice funky vinous.

Tasting at Chez Cloin. Thanks to Fergus. Almost clear paleish gold beer, tiny white head. Palate is light and fairly dry, good fine minerally crispness. Nice level of tartness, never gets acid. Good tart Chardonnay, floral grape. Mild citrus. Light semi dry finish leaves a grapey linger. Nice grape beer!

330ml bottle delivered from the Two-Tailed Lion, Leicester and drunk at home. Light gold, clear with the tiniest ring of white head. Lots of white grape and gooseberry on the nose, with a tart earthy funk. Uncompromising tartness in the taste with notes of hard citrus. Finish is a bit short and the heavy carbonation can't hide the watery body. All in all it's a cracker.
