Bottle at RBBWG 2016 in Antwerpen. Slightly hazy, golden amber, tan head. Sweetish aroma of vanilla, cognac, sweet apples and caramel. Sweetish-malty taste of caramel, vanilla, clove, sweet apples and cognac, followed by a medium long, slightly bitter, warming and moderately alcoholic finish. Nice!

Thank you for sharing Kraddel! 750 ml. bottle sampled @ RBBWG V. Hazy golden, little creamy white head. Nose is warming Cognac (possibly Calvados, I am not an expert), boozy simple overly heavy layered on top of vegetables & cooked cabbage. Taste is cooked cabbage, esters, vegetabels, malt with a thick layer of boozy Cognac / cheap spirit, burns in the finish, overly alcoholic. Body is alcohol & cabbage. Tastes like an awful base beer with a ridiculous amount of spirit on top in the hopes of masking it. # 50 Hof ten Dormaal beer. Yay I suppose?

750 ml bottle. Slightly unclear golden body with a nice, lacing off-white head. Quite strong aroma of apple cider, wood and some alcohol. Flavor is like a bit weird combination of cider, wood, sugar and perfumed alcohol. Medium body and aftertaste in the same direction. Not really bad, but feels to unbalanced with the oak aged flavor in this kind of beer for my likings.

Bottled. A hazy amber beer with a orangey head. The aroma has notes of wood, cognac, over ripe fruits, and alcohol. The flavor is sweet with notes of wood, over ripe fruits, alcohol, cognac, and caramel, leading to a dry alcoholic finish.

Been sitting on this since release, now should be the time to finally open them. Pours dark, clear amber. Ok white head fades within seconds, until no trace of any foam at all is left. Smell is boozy, full, bit sharp, grainy, and even remotely metallic. Taste is harsh, sharp grainy, sugary, sweet, some of the barrels shine trough. Finishes sweet. Rather low-for the abv- mouthfeel, with a boozy touch as well. Doesn’t seem to have the right amount of backbone for a barrel this strong. Must say I absolutely, 100 % love the barrel-notes in this one, but the beer that was used, was not a 100 % complementary to me.
