A winter favourite with our regulars! A deeply rich brown colour, this old style ale has a baked chocolate biscuit nose, followed up by hugely flavourful yet balanced hop and malt textures, with hints of sweetness and spice.

Third by cask, shared with Finn on the third day of GBBF Winter 20, Iron Bridge Bar. Near-black in the glass, covering beige head, clingy lacing. Smell of earthy, chocolate malts. Flavoured with chocolate malts followed by a fruity note to a mildly roasted finish. Satisfying. (Birmingham 06.02.2020).

Bottle, Classic ’Dodgi’ Deli, Cowley Rd, Oxford, Thursday 13th September 2012 Pours dark chestnut with off white verging to light tan head. Good fruity, twangy, slightly nutty taste. Some chocolate and a light roastiness. Despite all of this, not as good as my rating suggests. A6 A4 T6 P3 Ov12 3.1
