A barrel aged English Barleywine that spent one year in Mavrodaphnee oak barrels, giving it an intense dark dried fruit and raisin aroma,
has been blended with a Flemish Red Ale, a beer defined by its strong acidity, toasted bread and barnyard aromas.

The combination is a unique blend of two brews that carry the history of traditional brewing and winemaking in a single bottle.

Bottled 375ml. -Courtesy of Marko, shared with him & Hrabren. Pale brownish coloured, no head at all, wax, caramel, dried fruits and light alcohol in the nose. Dried fruits, caramel, light acidity and notes of oxidation with touch of rotten red apples. Noticable alcohol.

0.33 l bottle thanks to Marko, shared with Ogi and him. Unclear amber to brown, small beige head. Aroma is a slightly messy combination of black cherry, dried cranberries, cherry brandy, dried fruit, toffee toasted malts and glue. Peppery phenols, ripe apple. Solvent. Also oak. Flavour is dried fruit and tart dark cherry combo with lots of oak, solvent, bitter spicy phenolics. Quite gentle on the body, not creamy or cloying, moderate dried cherry tartness, some toffee sweetness. Right in between the two styles but not in the best way imaginable. Congratulations anyway for this one.

Bottle courtesy of Fin&Loz, ginormous thanks. Finally dug it up and shared it with Hrabren and Ogi. Brownish, reddish body, misty, almost no (off-white) head. Creamy aroma, floral, berry notes, some saliva, but not in a bad way, somehow, oxidation evident, trace glue, but I didn't mind it. Lean, dry taste, fresh, oxidized, caramelly, raisins, berry touches, touch of lightly rotten red apple, mild warmth. Unusual, likely was a bit better earlier.

Bottle purchased at the brewery, drunk on a special occasion of surviving another year. Reddish brown, small head, very complex nose: sour notes, cherry/red fruits, honey, malt, it's a big package. The flavor is a well blended medley: acidity up front from the red, dried ripe-fruit notes from the wine barrels (I assume), a bit of warming alcohol, wire high acidity. Some chewy caramel flavors at the end. Really nice.

Bottle courtesy of Kostas, Kykao brewery, cheers! Shared with the Ratebeer München group Friday 26th November 2021. An unusual blend and the component parts are instantly recognisable. The Flemish sour comes to the fore first but the laid-back barley wine mellows this out and and makes it super comfortable, this is super interesting. Colour is brown with a little haze.

Bottle. Unclear deep amber color with small white head. Aroma is caramel, raisins, cherries, balsamic. Taste is the same, raisins, nice tartness, but also sticky-ish. Oily mouthfeel, almost flat. Nice!
