This example of the Belgian Farmhouse Ale style began as a final project recipe created by one of Glenn Castelein's brewing students, William Roelens, who named it after his grandson Mauro, who lives in the town of Lauwe. The Alvinne brewers were so impressed by this beer that they added it to their lineup with Roelens' permission.

Orange blonde, hazy. Grapefruit, orange peels and coreander in both aroma and flavor. Sweetish, almost sugary and milky start, but also with an upcoming tartness, that partly hides the almost oily hoppiness. Lovely beer!!

At estaminet de brouwerij. Pours rather dark blonde. Small layer of white foam. Smell is paint thinner, very chemical - which is weird for a brewery I trust to use no chemicals.taste is mild bitter. The juniper berries really make it metallic , dry, paint thinner. Plain bad. It was probably better when less old...

’Saison’ commissioned by a hobby brewery in Lauwe with milky, sticky, thin and unstable head and warm golden blonde colour, cloudy. Aroma of orange, pineapple, banana, honey, cognac, coriander, cake, yoghurt, dust and cardboard. Citrussy freshness in the onset, sweet fruity with rather sharp carbo, yeasty and estery, bit powdery, ’dusty’ mouthfeel with light coriander, mild hop bitter finish with some ’whiny’ sourishness - my sample was probably very lightly infected.

GUSHER ALERT!
Clear orange to blond beer, huge towering creamy white head, pretty stable, adhesive, leaving some lacing. Wow, this doesn't look like a beer that's 5 years old! Too bad about the gushing part. Aroma: spicy, coriander, pretty fruity, banana, some honey (because of ageing) and some citrus. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: well, talking about a beer that's holding up well with age. Very fresh and spicy start, lots of coriander, citrus, bit grassy, bitter hops, grapefruit. Aftertaste: very fruity, citrus, bit floral, honey, bitter touch, pretty yeasty.

A hazed golden saison with a thick collapsing white head, floaties, some gunk in the opening, gushed. In aroma, very mineral salts, with light juniper, oxidized notes. In mouth, still decent, with some nice oily biscuit malt, astringent spices, some gin notes, but oxidation comes in finale. OK. Bieropholie imports, forgotten in my fridge, BB May 2010.

Bottle from Utobeer. Hazy, pale gold in colour with a huge, billowy white head. Sweet, citrus, green herb and peel aroma, with some floral hops. Flavour was sweet too, with more fruit, spicy yeast and coriander, before a thin, dryish finish. Good.

1st June 2008. Also made with coriander. Sharp orangey fruit. Acidic but in a good way. Subtle floral tone. Dry sharp finish. Refreshing and a palate cleanser!
