We love our DDH pales, don't get us wrong, but sometimes there's nothing better than a straight up, unfussy, clean and crisp pale ale. A beer specifically made with smashability in mind, Lupo Capisco is brewed with the masters of simplicity in mind - our heroes over at The Kernel, who make in our opinion the best pales in the UK. Hopped with a relatively easygoing dry-hop charge of 20kg of Azacca and Citra, this is a beer perfect for those after work pints we love so much. Soft, juicy, and crisp. These two incredible hops bring a swagbag of mango and tropical flavours to compliment their respective pithy bitter notes.

Keg draught at the Real Ale Classroom, Leicester. Light yellow with the hazy turned to 11.uneven and slightly floofy white head. Sweet aroma of cold fresh fruits: white grape, watermelon, berries. Fresh sweet taste. More berries, sugared orange and maybe even a touch of mint in there. Some bitterness in the finish but not enough to shed the 'sweet beer' label. Light body, heavy-ass carbonation. I like this, although the first couple of sups are a bit dull, it opens up after a short while.

Draft at Hop & Scotch, Kings Heath, Birmingham. Poured a hazy golden straw colour with a mostly lasting frothy white head. The aroma is grainy malt, stone fruits. The flavour is moderate to light bitter, with a light, smooth, earthy, mineral, grainy, light citrus, light hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with average to soft carbonation.

440ml can bought at Vinmonopolet Langnes. Horizontal tasting of four IPA beers from Polly's Brew. Shared with Finn. This one pours a hazy pale golden body under a declining white head, fair lacing. Moderate aromas of grass and herbal hops. Flavoured with a mango bite, grass, and oat flakes. Mid-dry malt-fruity end. Medium bodied. Quite alright. (Tromsø 15.05.2021).

Re-rate from can at Sainsbury's. More juicy fruit on this occasion. Low bitterness and tinned fruit. 7.3 so average generously to 7.0.

Can from Beer Ambleside. Appearance - cloudy light orange to brown. Initially a big fluffy white head but it reduces to thin lacing. Nose - brown bread, resin, not much fruit. Taste - still brown bread with some malt and hop tannins too. Quite chewy. Some fruit though, such as orange peel, dried apricot. Palate - creamy and medium bodied, hard tannic/resin middle and finish. Overall - not up to their usual standard. A bit of a hotchpotch.
