Gose-style ale with Syrah Grapes aged in Oak Foeders

This is a rosé - and a gose - by any other name. Goses are Red is a stylish funky, crisp and tart gose ale inspired by the soft sweetness of a rosé wine. The refreshing wheat-based ale begins with some of the qualities you’d expect from a gose, including coriander spicing and a light saltiness to complement the tartness imparted by our house cultures. But the story doesn’t end there - it builds in complexity, thanks to time spent in an oak foeder and the addition of grapes, which impart a refreshing character and color.

Astreines Ding!

Keg at BD 7D. It pours hazy deep pinkish - red with a bubbly white head. The aroma is soft, tart, slightly lactic, red fruits, jammy, grape and wet coriander. The taste is crisp, dry, tart, rather salty actually, touch of coriander red grapes, vinous, tangy, red fruits, sherbet, zingy with a dying finish. Medium body and soft / fine carbonation. Well rounded and rather approachable stuff. Works well.

750mL bottle, pours a cloudy bright orange amber with a small off-white head. Aroma brings out red grape must upfront, with light salt and coriander. Flavour is heavy on the red wine must upfront, with a decent amount of tartness. Not getting any salt or coriander - just red wine. It's okay.

Bottle, Legacy. Pinkish, cloudy, no head. There's a nice grapey note, wheaty and a touch of salt. Tart, fruity, berryish. The salt isn't hitting, which is too bad, because the sour-fruit dynamic good, but it needs more wheaty or salty nuance.

Bottle. Pours clear pink orange, medium white head, dissipates fairly quickly, decent lacing. Aroma is grape, lemon, funk, oak, sour mash. Flavor is medium tart, medium salty, hints of fruit, lemon, light funk. Medium body. Pretty aggressive beer; too aggressive for the style IMO.
