Clear amber beer, lots of small residue floating under a big creamy beige head, unstable, bit adhesive. Aroma: very malty, bit oxidized, caramel, some vanilla, sweetish impression, some chocolate. MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: very malty, sweet, lots of caramel, sweet ripe banana, milk chocolate. Aftertaste: more malts, bit vanilla, some banana peel, grains.

Out of the bottle, 2016er version @ Craft Mainz 2017. Deep malty dark beginning. Caramel, rich and thick, fried fruit, raisins, moderate grainy bitterness. Nice.

750ml bottle [2009 vintage, bottle #372/879]. Clear, mahogany colour with ruby glimmer and average, frothy, rapidly diminishing, minimally lacing, beige to tan head. Slightly vinous, dark malty aroma, notes of malt lozenge, black cherries, hints of blue grapes, a very mild touch of marmite. Taste is dry, minimally woody, dark malty, notes of malt lozenge, a mild touch of marmite, hints of black cherry, plum, chocolately and minimally nutty undertones, some residual sweetness; oily texture, minimally sticky palate, minimally prickling carbonation supports the fruity aspects. Probably the oldest Doppelbock I had so far. Obviously cellaring did no harm, no abatement in quality detectable (not a matter of course considering the relatively low abv).

33cl bottle of Jahrgangsbock 2016, bought in Miltenberg, stated ABV 7.5%, A deep brown colour with a thick cream head; aroma of unrefined sugar; smooth malty body with carmael and demerara sugar; some wood and warmth, but then a rather thin finish.

Pours brownish from the bottle. The thick frothy head soon fades completely. Aroma is caramel, oak, fresh bandage. Taste is sweet, malty, full of oak, caramel, and finishes with an alcoholic warmth. Body is medium, carbonation is mild. It’s not bad, but there’s just not a lot to it. Missing any sort of complexity to hold the attention.

0,33 l bottle from the brewery. 2016 version. Labeled with 7.5% abv. Murky dark orange with a huge pale beige head in the glass. Some malty fruitieness on the nose. Taste starts surprisingly smooth. Mid malty, low fruity, little bit alcoholic in the background but also warming. Some wood and hop. Sweetness in the second row. More carbonation than expected. Complex stuff.

Vintage 2011 (Flasche nr 439) Krachla ale 0,75, niestety plastikowa ale rekompensuje przewieszka i elegancka etykieta. W smaku karmelowo daktylowe, nieco syropu klonowego. Slodkawe to piwo jest, no ale w koncu to rasowy doppelbock. Niestety niewielka piana, male wysycenie i brak osadu. Ale ogolnie fajne wrazenia. Powiem szczerze ze po opakowaniu sadzilem ze bedzie powalajace, ale bylo dobre. Sadze ze starzenie mu nie sluzy.
