Bottle shared in Zaandam. Sweet grainy buttery toast. Massive boozy. Big sweet and syruppy. I like it. But there’s nothing to really rave about. It just tastes nice and feels powerful. --- Beer merged from original tick of Holzknacker II - Rogner Edition on 02 Sep 2019 at 00:57 - Score: 8

Shared at KYUBCZT. Thanks to SinH4 for the bottle. Clear deep amber with pale beige head. Strong smell of whisky. Caramel, sweet malts, sweet whisky, soft herbs, bourbon, lots of oak, alcohol, toffee, sweet red berries. Quite sweet, light tart and bitter. Full bodied.

330 ml bottle from Biergreissler, batch 07/18, bb 31.12.2022. Copper-brown, clear body, with a small, creamy, dark beige head. Aroma of toffee, milk chocolate, whisky, cocoa, dried fruits, some sherry, alcohol. Tastes quite similar, with more fruits and sherry. Medium, oily mouthfeel, with a moderate carbonation. Finishes boozy, astringent, medium sweet, a bit dry, wooden, with whisky, dried fruits, toffee, moderate roast. Tasty. Pretty boozy and heavy, while really interesting, with lovely whisky, malt and fruit notes. Not my favourite one from their barrel aged range, but another great one. Score: 8 / 4 / 8 / 4 / 16

Bottle, ginormous thanks Sandi ST for sharing this with Hrabren and me!. Ruby body with a small off white head. Caramel and barrel assault in the aroma, raisins, big alcohol really. Taste... barrel, raisins, sweet maltiness, full and well rounded, touches of honey. Strong, hearty and tasty. A very good barrel aged barleywine!

Chocolate cake. Nice complexity. Soft honey, brown sugar and caramel malts aroma. Caramel candy or cookie. Light spices. Nutty, almonds. Light whiskey presence. Very rich. Sweet. Drinkable, thick texture, slick, medium body, moderate finish, aromatic.
