Bottle at il Punto. A nice black IPA with White head. A nice, not too hoppy black IPA, light bitterness, some lactose, low sweetness, lots of rye. Interesting. Some chewy black malts, chocolate, coffee. Good.

Pours black with an average sized off-white/yellowish head. Decent retention and not much lacing. Not too intense but clean aroma: dark bread/bread crust base, slight ryeish/crispy spiciness, some citric (mostly cedar) and balsamic notes in the background. Taste notes follow the aroma closely, with decent intensity and nice cleanliness. Medium sweetness and medium to high bitterness; nicely balanced in the mouth, with a nicely dry, clean bitter finish. Medium body with average carbonation, rather smooth/soft in the mouth (probably thanks to the wheat malt %) but excellently dry and refreshing in the finish. Well made black ipa.

Bottle split at L6, thanks to The Wingman, 13/06/18. Murky chestnut brown with a decent beige cap. Nose is stewed fruits, light spice, hint of plastic, charr. Taste comprises dried fruits, mellow roast, toffee, faint liquorice, hint of pine. Medium bodied, spritzy carbonation, drying close. So so ... way over carbed which knocks this one down a few notches.

Bottle shared in London - cheers to Dave. Pours unclear brown with a frothy, off-white head. The nose holds toasted pine, brown bread. Medium sweet flavour, some ripening orange, earth, pine, well toasted bread. Medium bodied, lightly oily, with fine carbonation. Finishes with nips of resin, more toasted brown bread, hints of cocoa, more orange peel. Not bad.

Bottle at L6. It pours cloudy dark brown with a thick foamy tan head. The aroma is earthy roast, sweet, chocolate, sticky, liquorice, umami, choc cake and rocky road. The taste is dry, bitter, charred, umami, peppery spice, dark fruits, tangy berry, leathery, juniper and spice with a drying finish. Medium body and high, foamy carbonation. So frothy..... not for me.
