Bottled. Hazy golden colour with a small slightly of-white head that leaves lace. Aroma is lemons, floral, spicy and mild herbal tones. Flavour is lemons, spices and some floral tones with mild yeasty elements. Strange for a lager... yet a tasty beer.

33cl bottle: (as The Second Coming of Betty B) BB 3rd Oct 202. Drank in the back yard of the Bier Paleis, Brugge. Blonde body, white head. Hoppy little number with the Sorachi Ace's doing their thing; lemon aroma and taste (if you didn't know).

Draft @ Brewdog Brussels. Dorée paille, col épais blanc. Arôme est fort plaisant mettant de suite en avant de belles effluves de houblon Sorachi - citronné, petite touche de dill. Grains concassés - pils et rappel de riz. Palais est sec, superbement bien houblonné avec un Sorachi qui est bien développé. Petit effet fleuri avec un apport un peu sureau, qcq agrumes, effet dill très frais. Malt pils restant bien présent.

Si vous souhaitez découvrir les arômes caractéristiques du Sorachi Ace, débouchez une Betty B, et heureusement qu’il est là, car sinon cette pils intégrant du riz (cela me fait toujours mal au cœur de savoir que des belges peuvent mettre du riz dans leur bière) n’a pas d’autre source d’intérêt. Elle est cependant globalement agréable avec une excellente longueur. Une bière de soif. En verre, joli tableau avec une blond doré limpide surmonté d’une fine mousse. Le nez est sur les agrumes, le pain est très légèrement herbacé. A peine arrive-t-on à déceler ces arômes d’orange amère très caractéristiques du Sorachi Ace. Ce n’est pas non plus à l’attaque que l’on peut les déceler, celle-ci étant peu aromatique, caractéristique des pils, sur les céréales avec de légères épices. La deuxième bouche voit arriver encore timidement les arômes d’orange amère avec des arômes de céréales qui vont vers le biscuit. Cette deuxième bouche est accompagnée d’une légère acidité. L’arrière bouche, plus amère, n’est quant à elle pas réellement bien intégrée. C’est surtout avec la troisième bouche et encore plus sur le final très long, que le Sorachi Ace prend toute son envergure en terme aromatique avec un alcool à 5,5% plutôt efficace sur la longueur et une amertume faisant davantage que ses 35 IBU, et aidé en cela par une bière peu sucrée. Travail tout de même intéressant en alliant du Sorachi Ace, mais qui ne transcendera pas les foules.

Tap at Uncle Babe's Burgers in Gent. Unclear golden color with white head. Aroma is mildly earthy hops, biscuity pale malts. Taste is slightly sweetish rice and pale malts, but the base is pretty thin, paired with a ton of grassy hops, lemongrass, coconut even. This is the first time I get all these flavours in Sorachi Ace. Soft velvety mouthfeel (from the wheat?) with natural carbonation. Very good and refreshing Pale Lager, a pleasant surprise!

Pours hazy pale yellow with a lasting, frothy, white head; some lacing. The aroma contains bitter hops, spruce, grass, honey, rice, yeast, citrus, some butter. It tastes light citric sour with a grassy & malty back, and medium grainy to heavy hoppy bitter. Drying, bitter finish with herbal & grassy hops. Medium body, slick (almost creamy) texture, soft carbonation. Quite the different Pale Lager; dangerously bitter.

Pale blond with light haze and lively head. Aroma and flavour have light citrus zest. Decent depth of flavour and plenty of bitterness in the aftertaste.
