hink legendary. This distinct ruby beer’s sweet caramel and fruity aromas tease the taste buds. Brewed with smooth and rich chocolate and crystal malts and a blend of Fuggles and Styrian Golding hops. Expect a delicious full-bodied toffee flavour and a fruity finish of figs, raisins and dates. Drink legendary.

Gravity rather than handpump which is never great. A tad on the thin side. The rounded malty, fruity sweetness is there but seems somewhat muted.

On tap at The Golden Grove, Chertsey. 17/07/16. Hadn’t had this in years, but was always a favourite when I like a pint but had not really got in to beer. Little aroma. Ruby brown, as to be expected. May have been the barmaid but, as per the Gold, only a whisp of head. Fruity and sweet. Slight hint of bitterness. Pretty light in body and no carbonation. Not a challenging beer, however this at least makes it easy drink.

Pint from cask at Matt & Phred’s in Manchester. Nutty brown. Persistent off-white head and lacing. Soft aroma of medium dak malt, syrup and dark berries. Similar, but more pronounced taste. More bitterness and hops in aftertaste, buy still balanced with.sweet malt. Very quaffable!
