"Schwarze Madonna" oder (Mariahilfer) Stout, Flasche aus Probierpaket von der Brauerei. - Tiefdunkles Rotbraun, fast schwarz; kaum Schaum.

Dark brown colour, beige foam. Nose of roasted malts, bread crusts, some sweet caramel and chocolate notes. A nice hybrid between dunkel and stout.

Flip-top bottle 50 cl. Pours a dark brown with an orange hue and a tiny, rough, beige head. Faint chocolate aroma. Rather light body, roasty and chocolatey with a low carbonation. Rather bitter finish. Somewhat dusty and rough. 100823

Bottle online from Raynville Superstore Pours a very dark brown almost black colour with a huge thick foamy beige head. Aromas of caramel, milk chocolate and light roasted malts. Taste has more caramel, chocolate and roasted malts with added ashy notes on the roasty bitter finish. Medium to full body, low carbonation and slightly oily mouthfeel. Somewhere in between a Stout and a Schwarzbier. Flavourful and decent.

Bottle frrom Bier Souvenir in Füssen. Color: Very dark ruby, very light brown head. Aroma: Maltu, roasted malt. Not much going on, that doesn't promise much. Taste: Roasted malt, very malty, only light hopbitterness. Hints of coffee. Just over medium body, below average carbonation. Quite smooth mouthfeel. Quite thin and very monotonous / dull for a Stout. Ok German attempt to brew a non traditional German beerstyle but not much going on here...

Bottle from Fein & Herb. Dark brown, not really black, nice head and a nutty caramel & grains nose. Very tasty with hazelnut, walnut, light roast coffee, cacao fading to a smooth and tasty bitterness. In fact it's IPA level bitterness, much more than your average German traditional beer. I would call it a dark nut brown or maybe porter, not a stout, but it's really interesting and delicious for a German dark beer!
