Dark Smoked Lager
Our Schlotfegerla® is a full-bodied, dark smoke beer. The fine beechwood- smoky notes combined with the aroma of espresso invite you to take your first sip. On the tongue it impresses with pronounced notes of malt reminiscent of dark chocolate and bread crust.
Together with the fine smoky impressions it becomes an harmonious, characterful beer that goes well with flavors combine meats and ham.

Bottle. Dark brown with armed shine and brown head. Roasted milk chocolate aroma. Chocolate base, minerals and roast, dark choc finish. Creamy mouthfeel. Smoked porter I would say.

Bottle, 5.2% at Cafe Abseits. Weak malty aroma, perhaps a hint of smoke. Dark brown colour. Small light brown head. The flavour is malty and roasted. Has a bit of smoke and, believe it or not, some caramelly note that reminds me of malt syrup.

Bottle from Abseits Café, Bamberg; bottled 13.12.2010, 2 months old
Mahogany color, clear; medium sized compact head. Mild aroma of caramel, smoke and vague cereals; fire wood; more balanced than powerful. There is some body, with strong flavor of dark caramel, moderate smoke, and a light sourness from the malt too; correct bitterness; overall it has a roasted nuts and dry feeling. Good, but this feeling is a bit too strong in the end, while I prefer mellower beers.

bottle from Frankenland. Brown colour, small beige head. Smoky nose. Full-bodied, malty base with hints of chocolate and good smoky flavours. Not as intensive as other smoked beers, but the smokey character is present - not in an aggressive way. Slightly sour.

Tap@Festival der Bierkulturen, Cologne: Deep ruby-amber coloured, stable off-white head with a good lace; smoky-ashy nose with some fruity undertones; moderate to solid dry bitter-sweet flavour, soft and medium bodied; lingering ashy-smoky finish with a dark-malty counterweight. Fine, fine.....

Somewhat muddy brown. Aroma is earthy, brown sugary and smokey. A little overattenuated but with toasty malts and light smoke in the finish along with light toffee/sugars.

Bottled at PBF. Mahogany colour, minimal head. Ashy smokey nose. Gentle rounded mouthfeel. Smokey, but rather carefully so. Presents malty smoke flavour pretty well. Low bitterness.
