Our Schlotfegerla® is a full-bodied, dark smoke beer. The fine beechwood- smoky notes combined with the aroma of espresso invite you to take your first sip. On the tongue it impresses with pronounced notes of malt reminiscent of dark chocolate and bread crust.
Together with the fine smoky impressions it becomes an harmonious, characterful beer that goes well with flavors combine meats and ham.

0.33 l bottle from the brewery's web shop, best before December 2025. Clear, very dark ruby with a medium large, frothy, slowly diminishing, beige head. Sweetish-malty, gently smoky aroma of caramel, smoked ham, nuts and traces of raisins. Gently sweet, malty, moderately bitter, gently smoky and a little fruity taste of caramel, toasted nuts, bread crust, smoked ham and some raisins, followed by a medium long, gently bitter, a little dry finish. Medium body, gently effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Decent brew, not smoky enough for my liking.

Bottle from the malthouse shop.
A: hazy black, stable, foamy, beige head.
A: tobacco, toasted chestnut, salami, fondant.
T: sweetish raisin, umami salami & smoke, brown bread.
F: earthy hops, toast & smoky tobacco.
P: medium body, slick texture, average carbonation.
Weyermann's interpretation of the classic Schlenkerla - that doesn't use Weyermann's malt, by the way, but their own. Still a bit removed from that example in any case, as in less expressive, more of a Dark Lager perhaps.

330 ml bottle. Pours a murky brown with a small creamy head. Leather, rubber, zesty hops, smoke, cocoa, roasted malt, some overripe banana and stone fruit. Some dryness, some bitterness, some umami. Medium bodied, oily watery texture, soft carbonated, dry malty smoky finish. Decent,

Dark brown colour with thin head. Aroma and flavour have pleasant smokiness from the malts. Full bodied. Malt sweetness comes through too. Very flavoursome.

Bottle shared by Joes. Clear darker brown color with a nice deep dark red glare coming through, beige head. Aroma is malts, rauch indeed. Flavor is malts, rauch, sweetish. Quite good. I like it.
Flaske smakt Sept -17

Brown with a frothy to creamy, beige head. Aroma of woodsmoke and salami with a light chocolate undertone. Taste is bittersweet with the roasted bitterness melding into a sweetness full of fudge. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation—perhaps a touch overdone here but only barely. Light oily notes. A good one.
