Aus der Flasche im 2016-03 getrunken. Dieses geile und süffige Stout ist mit seiner Aromen einfach purer flüssiges "Pocket-Coffee"!

Aroma: Rich coffee and dark chocolate.
Appearance: Jet black body with a medium tan head. Good lacing.
Taste: Unlike previous raters, I found this to have quite a harsh bitterness (to be fair, the previous rate was from eight months ago...) Dark chocolate and espresso (living up to its name). Strong flavours but not the smoothest blend/balance.
Palate: Medium body with a watery, slightly oily texture. Flat carbonation.
Overall: As a Stout, it’s extremely rich, bitter and flavoursome. The balance isn’t quite there though and so it’s not very moreish (after half a pint, I’d almost had enough).

Half, cask at Dagda Bar. Almost completely black. Beige ring to a shiny black surface. Smell of dark sweet malts in the direction of cocoa powder. Oatmeal, coffee and cocoa to the taste buds. Smooth and dry bitterness towards the ending. Thin to medium bodied. Different and carries some excitements (weatherbound in Edinburgh, 02.11.2010).

From cask at The Society Room. Pours dark brown with a small and deep amber glare, creamy and chocolate brown head. Aroma is distinct coffee even from a distance. Coffee, mild vanilla and dark toffee flavoured. Vague herbal real coffee note. Ends slight flat and malty. No sweetness nor bitterness.

[Cask at the Hope Tap (JDW), Reading] Black, slight beige head. Aroma & taste are plain chocolate coffee creams, with that artificial sweet coffee flavour (think Roses or Quality Street here). There is a slight sourness behind and roasted malt in the finish, but the malt needs more heavy roasting to provide some bitterness to balance the sweet coffee. Overall, it is Roses coffee cream in a glass - if you like Roses coffee creams, you’ll love this; if you don’t you won’t. Fortunately I do like them!
