(Bottle, Japanese Canteen, Bethnal Green, London, 26 Nov 2015) Golden colour with frothy, white head. Malty, hoppy nose with bread, citrus and a touch of resin. Malty, hoppy taste with notes of bread, cereal, grass and a balanced resiny bitterness in the finish. Medium body, with a touch of sweetness. Well made modern style pilsener with a fresh hop character. Quite nice.

Bottle at Japanese Canteen, Bethnal Green - London. Pours lightly hazy, deep gold with a frothy white head. The nose has crackery pale mats, old pine, bread, white grape. Medium sweet flavor with sugary crackers, crusty bread, hay, golden raisins, stale pine, marshmallows. Medium bodied with average carboantion. Finishes sweet, with flabby, old and crackery mats, old and faded piney hops, a little bit of caramel. Somewhat tasty still, but it seems as though this beer is a little old.

Sampled from the tap at ABR 2015. Pours a clear amber gold with a white head that dissipates quickly to the edges. Aroma has a lot of earthy grass, dry pine, bread and a bit of grain supporting. Flavor has notes of bread and grain with a bit of grass and a touch of earthiness.

From a 333ml bottle on 21/7/2015 (labelled India Pale Lager). Pours a slightly cloudy light golden with a small head. The aroma is light and fruity, with a hint of spice. Take a sip and there’s some bready and biscuity malt, sweet citrus fruit, and a moderate spicy bitterness. Has a fullish body and average carbonation. Pretty good, if not quite hitting the bullseye. But I wouldn’t complain if I had to down another. Rating 3.5.
Re-rate on 24/4/2017. Hadn’t realised I’d tried it before and found it less agreable this time. The main problem is the bitterness, which is quite harsh and a bit rough.

330ml bottle from a department store in Shinjuku. Drank from the bottle. Nice aroma of stone fruit and malt. Well-balanced on the palate. Nice malt sweetness paired with hops. More hops present than usual for this style which makes it more interesting than the Ruri. --- Beer merged from original tick of Kyara on 10 May 2015 at 14:34 - Score: 5
