A wholesome best bitter designed to be true to this iconic beer style, with only a few respectful tweaks. Expect biscuit and caramel flavours from our malts, balanced by English hops with grassy, herbal and citrus notes and refreshing bitterness. Everything is lifted by just a touch of Cascade in the dry-hop.

Can from ASDA Supermarket, Manchester. Slightly darker clear golden-amber with a head. Gentle modern bitter without much bitterness at all. Slightly earthy, a little more hoppy, it's pleasant for its style.

Taste comprises dates, figs, light toffee vibes, hedgerow, bitter sweet notes, fruit slice. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close scattered with mellow dusty hop bitterness. Solid bitter.

[Cask at the George and Dragon, Swallowfield.] An amber pour with a tight white head; malty aroma; soft and sweet malty body; and a biscuity finish with a light bitterness. If this is a momentous of an old fashioned English bitter it shows how things have improved since I started drinking.

440ml Can - Amber with a haze and a foamy head. Grapefruit, pine and some grassy and biscuity notes in the aroma. The Cascade notes leave some notes of grapefruit and soap while the biscuity and grassy notes loiter intently in the background. It is on the verge of being an APA rather than a bitter but it just about stays within the boundaries even though the Cascade notes are rather evident. The issue with dry hopping bitters with American, Aussie or NZ hops is that it is very easy to overdo it. Enjoyable beer though! It is interesting the label makes a point of saying the beer should be poured hard and fast in order to get the 'full Cascade effect'. That's not something I've seen before.
