Stormstay is Hanlon’s premium bitter. A strong amber ale,surprisingly smooth with hints of toffee and citrus.
Dark amber to copper in colour with a toffee and floral hop nose and hints of tangerine. Malt caramel and biscuit nestle with the three aroma hops, Phoenix, Styrian Goldings and Cascade. Late hopping with citrusy Cascade cuts through the alcohol sweetness.
Stormstay has won may awards including the prestigious Champion Beer of Britain Silver award.

Bottle 50 cl. Pours a murky opaque brown with a small off-white head. Nutty aroma, a little yeasty. Medium body, nutty, tart overripe fruit and yeast. Ends dryish. More like an Old Ale really. 280511

Cask at the Wharf. A clear, copper beer with a quite pretty beige head. The aroma is really pleasant, with some roasted coffee-like malts, toffee, prunes and blue plums and a touch of citrusy, fruity hops. Full-bodied and smooth on the palate, finishing with a pleasant fruity bitterness. There’s toffee, roasted notes and fruityness initially. A pleasant and easy drinking beer, tasteful and well suited for the season. 101216

On tap at the Rake. Clear amber brown beer. Not much of a head. Smooth dry palate, low carbonation. Tangy tea like malt. Tiny bit of orange hop and some hop bitterness. Trace of banana. Dry tangy finish. Okay - just has enough to keep it interesting.

Cask (handpump) @ Charlies Bar, Pilestraede 33, Copenhagen, Denmark.Clear medium to dark amber color with a average, frothy - fizzy, good lacing, mostly to fully lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caraeml, nutty, fruity, light to moderate hoppy. Flavor is moderate to light light heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, dark fruit, nutty, mnalty, hop bitter, licorice - anis seed notes. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20101122]

Cask at the Rake. Pours cloudy gold with a sturdy white head. Nice hop aroma with hay and caramel. Fairly sweet, with light malts then a balanced, earth and hay bitterness. Medium in body with fine carbonation. The finishe is medium hoppy with light sugars. Nice beer.

Near-clear, copper coloured body. Creamy, off-white head. Malt-fruity to the nose. Flavoured with sweet mellow fruits, hints of lemon and hop resin to a malty backbone. Rounded bitter tail. Full pint, cask at Sheffield Waterworks Co (JDW) 2. Oct 10.

Cask, handpump at The Hop Pole, Aylesbury, Bucks, consumed 27.09.10 Pours amber with a white head, there is a good body to this with a big malty backbone. Touch of alcohol showing, chewy and a little hoppy but not getting the Amarillo as described on the pumpclip. Really pleasant beer though I noted that by the end I was tiring of it a little so maybe a half is enough for me, but it’ll make a decent half. . A6 A4 T7 P4 Ov14 3.5
