This is a popular mild bitter made from a very old Welsh clergy recipe. Our golden-coloured bitter is a traditional favourite. Refreshingly hoppy and fruity with a mild blackcurrant flavour. It’s a dry bitter with a distinctive peppery malt finish.

Shared with Dan and Grumbo. Aroma is floral, woody and of sherbet. Taste is sour, dry and the sherbet taste is coming through. not sure if this was the intention but I enjoyed it.

19/6/2021. Bottle shared with Dan & ITFCfan at the Euro's beer share. From the brewery direct. Pours clear pale amber with a frothy white head. Aroma is fruity, hoppy, floral, biscuit, citrus, caramel, touch of sour fruits. Moderate sweetness and sourness. Moderate body, slight watery texture, above average carbonation. Not especially keen on this.

500ml bottle [courtesy of Grumbo - cheers Graham!]. Opalescent, amber colour with average to huge, firm, frothy, moderately lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Earthy, floral, hoppy aroma, relatively neutral, malty background, slightly fruity, minimally waxy hoppy overtones with a touch of rhubarb. Taste is moderately bitter, floral, minimally earthy, slightly fruity hoppy, notes of petals, hints of rhubarb, rather neutral, malty basis. Minimally oily, watery texture, slightly dry palate, medium, foamy, prickly carbonation. Relatively intense, minimally overcarbonated - OK.

Bottle from the Abbey Grange Hotel, Llangollen. Golden with a small head. Quite hoppy, mildly sweet, with a lowish bitterness for something described as a bitter. It's pretty tasty regardless.

Hand-pulled half-pint in the Abbey Grange Hotel, next to the brewery on 2nd June 2018. Amber body, clean and clear, white topping. Light fruitiness in the aroma and initial taste, hop bitter throughout. Lacked body depth and oomph.

Cask at St Albans BF 2010. Amber colour, clear, thin white head. It’s a dullish bitter. Which is also bitter.

Cask-conditioned at the Seven Stars, Bristol 3/11/10. Amber coloured with a slight white head. Sweetish aroma of apricot and biscuit malts with some flinty dryness. Flavour had more fruity malts, a mineral edge and decent bitter finish. Good.
