Cask at The Dove, Bury St E. Sweat oat and vanilla aroma. Opaque cola brown. Creamy off-white head. Sugary sout berries and low key bitterness. Medium bodied. Slick. Astringent finish. Pleasent enough.

30/7/2021. Cask at the Redoubt Beer Festival, Harwich. Pours dark brown with a small bubbly beige head. Aroma of ash, roasted malt, dark chocolate, earthy notes. Moderate sweetness and moderate roasted bitterness. Moderate body, slightly watery, soft carbonation.

Cask 1/3 pint at the 46th Cambridge Beer Festival, 2019, Colchester Oatmeal Mild in the programme, also mentioned at the bar as Colchester Dark Mild. ABV 3.5%. Nearly black colour, beige head. Aroma of chocolate. Smooth flavour of chocolate, very mild coffee, a hint of fruity hops.

Cask at the Rose & Crown, Sandhurst. A dark chestnut pour with a ring of translucent head; oaty aroma; smooth in the mouth with a porridgy taste, but rather thin; then a dry oaty finish. Very drinkable, a good mild.

14th July 2017: cask half-pint at The Crown Inn, Oakengates. Dark brown/ruby, lightly tanned head. Oaty and malty in both aroma and taste. Decent stuff.

Handbill cask at the Cambridge Blue. Dark chocolate brown, translucent with a quickly disappearing cream head. Porridge and chocolate milk in the aroma. Gentle creamy sweetness with a touch of liquorice. Short sweet finish with just a touch of leafy hoppy bitterness. Flat body. Quite good and easy-drinking mild.
