Thanks to LKS. Almost clear dark amber beer, a few pale tan bubbles. Smooth palate, flat. Watery caramelil malts, a vague Wheaty vibe. Ripe fruits. Light finish. Probably not a million miles from what people were being served at the end of the war.

Bottle at the columbus tasting 24/11/2022. Many thanks to Kenny. A dull stale brown coloured pour with a small loose greyish white head. Aroma is semisweet, fig roll, cardboard, stale grains. Flavour is composed of semi sweet, nutty malts, stale, no life, no action. Palate is semi sweet, stale cake, no life. REally stale. Terrible.

Bottle shared in London. Vintage c. 1995. Pours clear copper with a few bubbles on top. Lightly sweet with sugary brown bread, a little toffee, nips of oxidation. Light bodied with no carbonation. Sweet finish, more bready malts, nips of dates. Not too bad.

Bottle split at the Level 6 Tasting, thanks to LKS, 24/11/2022.
1995 bottle.
Golden amber topped with a thin off white head.
Nose is dried fruit rinds, hedgerow, grains.
Taste comprises dark malts, straw, stewed fruit, oxidised.
Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close.
Passable for the age.

Bottle share round at Richy’s. Copper colour. Barely a head. Tea infused, sweet malts. Biscuit. Spice. Taste is manky sweet. Watery. Sweet finish. Smelled ok. After that, it got grim.

27th June 2015: cheer Rich for bringing this 330ml bottle to the 2nd Annual Midlands tasting. Not at it’s best I suspect (well out of date): it poured a grubby amber with a wisp for a head. Aroma like a barley wine, the thin body having a sweet caramel flavour: disappointing, but the age didn’t help. Scored objectively and kindly.

Bottle from rating sponsor RJM cheers Rich; dark copper pour with some floaty bits, bubbly head that disappears very rapidly, smoke and fruit aroma, taste has a hint of tobacco, dark fruit, some smoke and leather, light sherry, carbonation gone, some oxidation, interesting.

Bottle at Kookfest 2006. Toffeeish, bit thin. Copper colour. Very thin in mouth, bit of sherry. Empty. Yuck.
