Medium body, not really roasty but comes with a distinct licorice note. A finish more dry than bitter. Once more a very different stab at a beer style from Apostel. 181225

Bottle. Color: Dark murky brown, beige head. Aroma: Malty caramel, spicy notes. Taste: Malty, smooth, almost creamy mouthfeel, burned caramel, milk chocolate, spicy hints. Medium body, below average carbonation. Moderate to over moderate sweet, light bitterness. Interesting.

500ml bottle. Quasi black colour with weak, ruby shimmer and small to average, frothy to creamy, half-way lasting, miimally lacing, dark beige head. Muesli-like, grainy and fruity aroma, hints of dried berries. Taste is sweet-ish, grainy and fruity, slight muesli character again, hints of dried berries, dried fruit in general. Watery texture, minimally dry palate, medium, prickly carbonation. Clean, fruity - interesting.

Sollte hinsichtlich Glas und Einschenkritual wie ein Weißbier behandelt werden. Da aus Hafer-, Gersten- und Dinkelmalz, eigentlich kein echtes Weizen (man könnte es also auch 3-Korn nennen). Die tiefschwarze Farbe fällt gleich auf. Geschmacklich verbindet es viele der Eigenschaften des Emmer-, Dinkel- und vor allem des Roggen-Biers aus gleichen Haus (allerdings weit weniger sauer als dieses - was dem Bier sehr gut tut). Sehr herbe Grundnote, aber auch fruchtig / florale (Orangen-Matetee fällt mir ein), recht röstig malzig (irgendwo muss die tiefschwarze Farbe ja herkommen), vollmundig und trotzdem recht süffig. Minimal brotige Note im Hintergrund. Als Feierabendbier geeignet (oft sind Apostelbräu-Biere etwas zu süffig, sprich haben zu wenig Substanz, um in dieser Disziplin zu bestehen). Ein exotisches, sehr gutes und hochinteressantes Bier - ich steh voll drauf. Das Bier hat eine Entwicklung durchgemacht. Die ersten Chargen waren extrem röstig (man hatte den Verdacht in der Brauerei hat es gebrannt). Bei späteren Suden rückte dies zurück und teeigen und fruchtigen Noten standen eher im Vordergrund. Inzwischen ist zusätzlich eine schön vanillige Note dazu gekommen. Das Bier hat sich nun gefunden. In den letzten 2 Jahren ist der Geschmack auf diesem Stand - mir hat es immer hervorragend geschmeckt.

Bottle looks good. Beer in the glass dark black, small head. Malty aroma. Starts dry malty, wheaty, light sourish. Some spicy notes. Could be more balanced. Okay.

0,5 l bottle from a local Hol´ Ab! market. Dark with reddish edges in the glass, nearly three finger beige head. Malty smell and something like a Dunkelweizen.Taste is also like a watery Dunkelweizen. Malty, pale grain, some orange fruitieness. Above average carbonation. Sticky sweetness to the end.

Pours muddy dark brown from the bottle. The foamy head fades completely and quickly. Aroma has mild notes of roasted grains, toast, but not exactly inviting, a bit stale. Taste is sweetish up front with cherry sour undertones that turn stronger on a finish Medium body, a bit watery on the palate. Simple.
