Keg at the 4th birthday. Dark black / brown coloured pour with a thin cream coloured head. Aroma is nutty. Brown, lemon, pine, tangy wood. Flavour is semi sweet. Nutty brown malts, liquorice. Pine. Palate Is medium sweet. Moderate carbonation, woody. Bit of a weird one.

Keg at Beavertown. It pours clear darkest brown with a decent off-white head. The nose is soft, sweet, oily, liquorice, plum, dark fruits, jammy and candy. The taste is slick, juicy, bitter - sweet, rocky road, plum skin, candy, rocky road, earth, alcohol boost, charred wood, tar and dull spice with a dry, toasty finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Not bad.

Tap, at Beavertown. Hazy, cola brown. Bubbly, filmy, green tinged, tan head. Big, brûléed grapefruit hop. Soft roast. Soft savoury. Taste has a light sweetness. Turns earthy bitter. Plenty of fruit. Good body. Pithy, earthy bitter finish.

Bottle shared at a tasting. Thanks Raul! Sharply peppery and bitter nose with pine resin notes and freshly ground peppercorns. The rye really jumps out on the nose. Starts out a roasty but then some malt sweetness comes in and balances fairly well. Nice balanced finish with some lingering pepper and roasted chocolate.

Pours dark brown, edging black and has some thin foam. Aroma has maybe a bit too much rye, bit roasty and .. I am feeling some soap in there. Taste has some rye bread, bit of hops, feels thinner than I expected. Rye spiciness mixes with some sweetness and hop bitterness, balanced. Drinks nice but something is missing, expected something more from this.

Draft @ BBP, Norwegian brewers tap takeover.

Black colored, small beige head, nice lacing. Aroma is of some chocolate and roasted malt but more of floral and some citrus hops. Taste is medium sweet caramel malt and chocolate, some roasted malt, tropical fruity, floral and some citrus moderate hops aroma and medium bitterness, dry finish, lasting choco-hoppy aftertaste. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, creamy-resiny. (bottle, Bierhalle Deconinck, Vichte)

330ml bottle @ Pikkulintu, Helsinki. Pours pitch black with a smooth bubbly brown head. Aroma of roasty malts, grassy hops, herbal notes, chocolate, hints of licorice and coffee. Taste is smooth, slightly roasty and fruity with some grassy and herbal hops, chocolate and cocoa. Finish is slick, really smooth, slightly sweetish and roasty with some rye bread, pine, chocolate and grassy hops. Quite drinkable and smooth, not your typical black IPA.

(Bottle, 0.33 l, at Pikkulintu, 20160101) The beerpoured black. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had burnt malts, saltiness and salty liquorice. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were sweetness, burnt malts, liquorice, ash and bitterness. Aftertaste was ashy and bitter. A decent burnt brew with intense hoppiness.
