Seven varieties of malt combine to create complex flavors of candied figs, raisin and toffee with a hint of smoke. So intensely flavorful, it’ll inflate your bagpipes with every swig.

Can from Beer Republic. Aspects of milk chocolate, nougat, butterscotch, vanilla, hazelnut, tobacco, plum, pear, date. Taste has sweet plum, pear & raisin; thick chocolatey & toffee malt body, bit doughy with nutty accents (hazelnut, peanut). Herbal hoppy finish, lingering molasses structure, dried fruit, some smoky yet 'wet' tobacco, and warming brandy alcohol. Medium to full body, creamy texture, soft carbonation. After 3-odd years it doesn't leave that big an impression anymore, but this is still a complex, rich and satisfying brew, a go-to Scotch as it were. Original rating: 24 June 2018. 10/5/9/5/17=4.6. At Tilburgs Bierfestival. Deputy Taster: Anke. Clear dark brown, reddish, with a lasting, small, foamy, beige head; little lacing. 'Warm' aroma of milk chocolate, caramel, mocha, banana & plum, kahlua, raisin, fruit liqueur, candied dates, roasted peanuts, some sherry or whisky. It tastes medium to heavy malty sweet, caramel & plum notes, and light roasted bitter, countering a possible cloying sweetness; accents of nuts & dough in the back. Dryish, herbal hoppy finish, lingering malty sweetness & a punch of warming liqueur, perhaps even brandy, alcohol. Full body, syrupy texture, soft carbonation. So deep, rich and tasty - love it!

Pours dark, caramelly brown. Good , stable, off white, bit fluffy head. Some lacing . Smell is bit complex, toffee, cocoa ( not roasty !) Bit creamy. Taste is creamy, bit slick ( mild diacetyl is appropriate in style though ) highly aromatic. Toffee, mild bitterness. Minor caramelly notes. Creamy mf , medium thick. Low to medium low carbo.alcohol is very hidden, clean fermentation profile. No hoparoma.

Canned 355ml. -Nearly brown coloured, small to medium sized off-white head, caramel in the nose. Sweet malty, light caramel, toasty notes, touch of hops and odd meaty notes as well. Sweetish finish. There's something that I don't like here.

Pours brown from the can with a finger thick, frothy head. A sticky lacing clings to the glass. Aroma is earthy, caramel, chocolate, old wet wood. Taste is toffee sweet, malt-driven, with a very mild bitterness at the finish. Body is thick, sticky, full. Overall pretty good.
