Cask at the Wheathseaf, Frimley Green - 05/01/13. Note - also had this as Sherlock and also as Raglan Best (Rugby) spoilt so I am ! Clear dark amber/brown with a thin off white head - looks inviting! Nose carries malt, yeast (that GK strain of course!), hint of fruit. Taste comprises light fruits, malts, GK yeast, touch of paper. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation and some bitterness in the finish. Dull but not undrinkable!

Cask (backlog). Amber colour with a small off-white head leaves some lace. Aroma is fruity, nutty, crystal malty and bready malty along with mild toasted and resiny notes. Flavour is sweet malts, some nuttyness, mild caramel, herbs along with floral and grassy bitter hops.

March 2008: clear 500ml bottle, no BBD found, it must last forever! Poured into a pint sleeve. Good healthy looking copper/amber colour, clear with a few bubbles rising up to the white foaming head. A sweet almost candy aroma hits your nose at first, it peters away to not much of anything, almost aroma-less towards the end. Fairly bitter and refreshing taste, like a good English Bitter should taste. Hops and malted barley both evident, a good strong flavour when first tasted. Although it has bite to it, there is a flaw in the beer. It doesn’t have enough umph to stay flavoursome in the mouth, it fades away very quickly to a nothingness. Better than I anticipated, and not bad really.

[Cask at the Redan, Wokingham.] Gold with a dense cream head; earthy hop aroma; flavour starts with sone pelleted hops but develops into rich caramel malts; the finish is slightly nutty and sticky. Overall an excellent "ordinary" bitter.

Two, hand-pulled pints at Tower Tavern, Great Portland in London, enjoying the bluesrock band Bloodless Coup. Copper-amber coloured with a thin white head. Fruit-malty aroma. Flavoured with nutty malts and sweet caramel and balanced with a decent bitter ending. Nice session drink (08.08.2008).
