This is an English ale with hoppy, citrus undertones balanced with bitterness and a light sweetness. It has an aroma that is packed with soft fruit notes and a clean, moreish finish. Available in cask, smooth and sparkling.
Available as: Cask-conditioned and brewery-conditioned.

[Cask at The William Robert Loosley, High Wycombe, 1/3/2009] 5/3/5/3/12 I hated the bottled Ruddles County I had, and was therefore relkuctant to try this. However, the only real ales available in this โSpoons were this or Abbot (sort it out Mr Martin!), so reluctantly tried this. Pours a slightly hazy amber-straw colour with a thin, foamy white head. Slight flavour of malt, fruit and caramel. Little bitterness, but smooth and easy-to-drink. A pleasant enough but instantly forgettable session bitter. [Re-rate, cask at the William Robert Loosley (JDW), 13/9/2010] 5/3/4/2/8 Thin and watery. A little malt, a little caramel and a lingering dusty hop bitterness. Archetypal "boring brown bitter".

Cask at the Hope Tap (JDW), Reading. Amber with a thin loose off-white head; faint caramel aroma; thin and watery with a sweet biscuity malt flavour, and a stale bitterness to finish. Disappointing.

(Cask at Priory Arms, Stockwell, London, 25 April 2008) Amber colour with frothy, white head. Malty, nutty nose with notes of toffee, caramel and hints of sulphur. Malty, nutty taste with toffee and slightly dusty, earthy hops in the finish. Fairly boring bitter, actually.

Cask at Bridge inn ,Ratho ... Deep amber ... light hop ... nice creamy malty toffee fruity front ... but the bitter hop linger lets it down

Cask Conditioned. Light Brown bitter with creamy head. The flavor is hoppy from aroma hops, that gives a note of flowers and elderflower. An average bitter. Bland in flavour, not too much bitterness, sweet in malt, no outstanding features.

Cask handpull at Bell & Crown, Canterbury. Copper, thin bubbly off white head. Some yeast/apple on nose. Little character or malt in mouth. Earthy yeasty hop finish. Undistinguished dull bitter except for hop/yeast sharp finish. Bit muddy

(Can 50 cl) Clear amber basically without any head. Very lovely hoppy aroma and a bitter finish. Completely dominated by great aroma hops and a prime example of the fact that good beers donโt necessarily have to be big beers. 050602
