Amber with a fleeting, fizzy head. Aroma promises orange peel, oak, sparkling wine, apples. Pleasant sniffing. Taste is moderate tart, moderate bitter with a touch of spice at the end. Body to the light side of medium, prickly carbonation, warming to boozy at the finish. Good. Would be another level up if the booziness was better masked, or reduced.

J'aime bien l'innovation, mais la brasserie Piggy est allée un peu loin sur cette Calvados Zestus. Nous sommes donc ici en présence d'une Imperial Saison vieillie en fut de calvados (8 mois) et intégrant cannelle et zestes d'orange. La cannelle, très clairement est en trop. Et autant j'aime bien les bières vieillies en fut, autant là, ça déménage fort. Le visuel est sur un blond orangé voilé quasi sans mousse. Le nez est sur une alliance de blé, orange, pomme, calvados, cannelle et citron. L'alliance surprend. En bouche, cela déménage avec un calvados qui est trop prononcé et qui rend la bière trop forte en bouche. La cannelle e dérange également personnellement et ne s'insère pas bien dans le mélange. La complexité est au rendez-vous et la corpulence et la longueur sont bonnes. Je serais intéressé de tester la base sans aucun ajout.

Review based on the BJCP2021 guidelines (style 33B: Calvados BA / 25B: super / 30A: orange zest and cinnamon). Bottle 33 cl - Batch undeclared (BB 12/2025). AROMA: medium to medium-high notes of cinnamon, orange zest, background low wood, Calvados. low neutral and slightly sweet malt background. APPEARANCE: light yellow body and clear. medium-low to low white head with low retention. TASTE: initial medium notes of Calvados, low cinnamon and orange zest. low background note of neutral-sweet malt. medium bitterness with a dry finish. MOUTHFEEL: medium-light body with low carbonation. alcoholic warmth. OVERALL: although the base style isnt known, this beer presents a nice combination of aromas and flavours. A bit more carbonation would also be nice.

33cl bottle from Kaffee Bazaar webshop as my beer #1000 from France. F: medium, white, quick gone. C: gold, hazy. A: malty, cider, woody, funky touch, bit white wine, orange peels, bit herbal. T: full malty base, cider, woody, orange peels, white wine, herbal, spicy, bit warming alcohol, soft carbonation, decent bitterness, quite good, enjoyed.

Bottle from HavnensVinOgTobak. Pours cloudy dark golden with samll white head. Aroma is light malty and intense winey with distinct notes of Calvados, oak, grapes and lime zest and bitter orange. Taste is light to medium sweet, light to medium bitter and light acidic. Body is oily with light carbonation. Finish is long and balanced sweet and bitter with intense notes of Calvados, oak, grapes, bitter orange and hints of yeast and spice. A bit heavy on alcohol but still very good balance. This batch didn't have the defects other raters have mentioned. I quite enjoyed it.

Bouteille 33cl, BB 12/2025. Dernière de cette version Calvados - dont deux bénéficient d'un traitement - une tonka et cette version de zeste d'orange.
Dorée-blonde, col fin blanc.
Arôme sur un bouquet assez marqué par ce gros effet boozy ce qui me laisse immédiatement penser à ces grosses cannettes industrielles belges à 12+% abc. C’est juste bcp d'alcool, et le côté saison (même plus qu'impériale) s'en retrouve perdu. Tout cela est sauvé par des effluves de Calvados qui arrivent en rétro-nasal - ponctuées par des notes d'orange - zestes.
Palais est assez frais avec pour moi un côté boozy qui est marqué et verse presque dans une sorte de liqueur de dessert - Mandarine Napoléon vient à l’esprit. A cela s'ajoute les notes de Calvados - moût de pomme, une belle effervescence qui est ponctuée par ce caractère zeste orange, booze, râpeux du boisé avec un sucre résiduel qui vient réchauffer la gorge après chaque gorgée.

On tap at The Stuyck Co, pours a clear golden with a small white head. Aroma is very boozy and candied, with lots of bubblegum, cognac and booze. Flavour is boozy and sugary, with overwhelming booze, intense sugar, and esters. A total mess. The cognac is nice, but the base beer is a total mess. Needs serious work.

Clear orange beer, small creamy dense white head, stable, a bit adhesive. Aroma: super messy, lots of alcohol, calvados, fruity, very oxidized, orange peel, some cardboard, spicy, dry, cardamom notes. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: alcohol, a little bitter, lots and lots of orange peel, very fruity, Mandarin Napoleon, oh boy, this is quite weird… Aftertaste: a little bitter, fruity, oxidized, lots of orange peel, a bit sweet, tastes like french orange liqueur and little else...
