Aroma of medium roast malts, liquorice and mild coffee, a hint of blackcurrants. Bottle from Harveys Brewery Shop. Pour a very dark brown (coca cola look) with a thin beige head. Nice lacing. Aroma of dark fruit, caramel, dark malts, not too much on the nose. Taste is very malty with ripened dark fruit, raisin, caramel and bread. Very chewy sticky mouthfeel. Full bodied. Nice lingering aftertaste of more dark fruit. Added notes of toffee, liquorice and a little port wine. A touch sweet but not overly so. Unique and a very nice winter beer.

Bottle at home from the brewery. A lovely dark pour and a minimal head. The flavour was all about that malt and that imparted a lovely richness to the mouthfeel. It wasn't sweet, which was a bit surprising, but very welcome. A very tasty brown ale for grown ups.
