Bottle shared at Chris and Ruth Pre-GBBF 2017 tasting - London. Cheers! Pours deep brown with a foamy, khaki head. The nose holds light roast, soft chocolate, earth, brown bread. Medium sweet flavour with light metal notes, earth, leathery berries. Medium to full bodied with average carbonation. Warming finish, lightly sticky, some cocoa, milk chocolate too. Nice overall.

Bottle taken away from BrewDog Leicester and drunk at home. Very dark brown, almost opaque, with a bit of creamy khaki head. Coffee, some plum, chocolate milk, some charcoal in the aroma. Sweet taste with a heavy plummy flavour. Also a bit heavy on the booze, which is surprising for 8%. Some bitterness - a bit harsher than I'd prefer - in the finish. Smooth body with medium carbonation. Brandied plum and mochaccino in the aftertaste. Pretty good.

Bottle split at Chris & Ruths pre GBBF Shin Dig, cheers for all the shares, 05/08/17. Black with a decent tan cap. Nose is roast malt, chocolate, liquorice, light spice. Taste comprises toffee fudge, light charr, roasted bite, faint coffee grinds, brown bread, chocolate biscuit. Medium bodied plus, fine carbonation, drying close with a roasted schmack. Average boosty porter ... lacks depth for the ABV.

Bottle at C&R Pre-GBBF Tasting 2017. It pours jet black with a soft, sweetish, malt - driven, treacle, dried berry, candy, berry and liquorice. The taste is bitter - sweet, earthy roast, toast, wood, drying, tannin, cola, dried fruits, cocoa, tar, alcohol and liquorice with a drying finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Not a huge amount to it really, pretty sub standard for the style in my opinion.

The great pre GBBF bottleshare at ChrisO’s. Opaque dark brown beer, good tan head. Smooth airy palate, good fine carbonation. Soft dark malts, a little malt cream. Some roast bitterness. Touch of dark chocolate. Airy dry finish. Pretty standard stuff really.

Bomber from a trade, if I remember correctly that is. Pours dark brown. Ok to small and fast fading, rather light head. Smell is weak. Bit grains but not very roasty. Mild booze, which is surprising for just an 8abv beer. Taste is ok, bit bitter, notes of roast. Weak, both in taste and intensity, amd misses complex features. I had no clue this was a vintage untill I tasted it , it is best before 2013 according to the denmark import sticker, which explains the mild oxidation. Only had received it a few months ago, so didnt expect it to be oxidized. Still ok. Very distant notes of chocolate and coffee.

No head on a still near black body. Strong malty aroma with coffee & dark fruits. Thick oily texture, no carbonation, smooth on the palate. Sweet coffee & chocolate tastes with lots of malt, brown sugar, raisins, plum & quite a bitter aft.
