Bottled 330ml (Etre-Gourmet)
Almost opaque brown colour, small brownish head. Licorice, tar and peatyness in the nose. Full-bodied. Roasted, peaty, sweetish licorice. Smooth palate, oily, very sippable. Lingering roastyness and warming alcohol in the aftertaste. Reminds me about some Emelisse BAs. Quite similar and well-made. Super.

Bottle. Wine Rack, Sharrow, Sheffield. As "Buxton Arran". Not sure where the "The Living End" bit comes from? Anyhow, it’s very dark, cola brown. Halo and an island of super dense, dark tan head. Viscous and leggy. Nose has a pile of liquorice and black treacle. Vanilla oak. Coffee sorbet. Bitter cocoa nibs. Bit of a port wine twang. Some chocolate ice cream. Big booze in the background. Taste is very sweet, with a vanilla, oaky booziness. Some vine fruit dryness. Slick, sticky mouthfeel. Lots of warmth from the booze. Heady and rich. Sticky sweet and boozy bitter finish. Huge beer, or so it first appears, that turns out fairly easy drinking. I could have managed a share of the 330ml bottle, but it wasn’t a tragedy I didn’t get one...

Bottle @ Kromme Haring, 15 cl sample. Dark color, short frothy head. Aroma of peated whisky, lots of dark chocolate and a bit of roast. Barrel is quite present, but there is a lot of base beer left with chewy chocolate to balance it. Good stuff. --- Beer merged from original tick of Arran on 14 Jul 2017 at 07:09 - Score: 8

Bottle from Beer Revolution, Hay on Wye, Powys, consumed at home Thursday 13th July 2017 Pours black as yer at’ with a beige head. Sticky, with treacle and dark, dark sugars, clingy, full on and yet hugely drinkable . This has really taken a lot from the barrel and yet it is still so moreish. Chocolate, oaky, treacle leather, peaty, (and yet I don’t like peat) this is a lovely beer. A8 A4 T9 P4 Ov17 4.2
