This dark, rich coffee coloured stout is a real treat! W ith a bountiful nose of chocolate, coffee, treacle/caramel and wellintegrated maltiness, this is one for the lovers ofdarker beer. The palate is rich and concentrated without being overly intense, with flavours of sultanas and bourbon biccies!. As itsays on the label, “Silky, Black, Magic!” Stout with style.

Bottle 33 cl. Pours an opaque black with a lacing, beige head. Subtle roatiness in the nose. Fairly solid body, initial fruitiness almost more than roast. There's a vague chemical off note in there somewhere, but nothing all too disturbing. Malt bitter finish. 141217

Keg at the Cambridge Brewhouse. Almost black with a smooth tan head and lots of creamy lacing. Aroma of liquorice with a bit of souring vinegar. Sweet/sour taste, with an underlying bitterness that follows all the way to the long finish. Odd but pretty good. Won’t knock your socks off but I’m surprised by the low rates.

Keg at Small Bar - Bristol. Pours clear, rich brown with a thick, creamy khaki head. The aroma holds burnt toast, ashy roast, mellow chocolate. Medium sweet flavor with some out-of-place tangy fruits, further cocoa, bread. Medium bodied, a little oily, with fine carbonation. Finishes sweetly, with more tangy dark fruits, berries, touches of chocolate, warming alcohol. So so.

Dark brown to black colored, ruby hue, medium to small tan head, not very lasting. Aroma is some chocolate, roasted malt, ripe fruit, some spices, a bit of sourness. Taste is medium sweet caramel, chocolate, coffee, fruits and spices, again sour, Belgian yeast. Dry roasted finish. Medium bodied and carbonation. Soury Belgian stout... not really worth it.

Keg @ Old Gate, Hebden Bridge. An unclear dark brown in colour with the same coloured but very thin head. It has a mild but noticeable sourness in its nose with a hint of roasted malt there too. It has a small activeness in the palate and there’s not a lot of flavours for the tongue either with a very light roasted malt here too.
