Manneken-Penn is a 7.5% Belgo-American Dubbel whose name and label art were inspired by Philadelphia’s famed William Penn statue above City Hall, and Brussels’ landmark Manneken Pis sculpture of a playful naked boy – ahem – relieving himself. Manneken-Penn was made with oats, molasses and a combination of American and European hops. It is imported for PBW by Shelton Brothers and will be available both on draft and in 11.2 oz bottles.

A hazed dark reddish copper ale with a thick frothy lacing mocha head. In aroma, sweet fruity caramel malt with light treacle, dark fruits, light coffee, nice and smooth. In mouth, a nice sweet fruity caramel malt with dark fruits, maple, subtle resinous hops, light mineral notes, very nice and solid after 3 years.

Bottle thnx to Sebastian ( Brocante ) . Pours darker and unclear amber . Good white head . Smell is sweet, amber malts . Some copper . Taste is sweet, bit bitter , some herbal notes . Some earth-like maltyness . Carbo is just perfect , and the mouthfeel is significantly more thick than other de la senne beers .

Bottle. Amber-brown beer with a big light tan head. Malt and light yeast aroma. Malt and cocoa flavor with light yeast and light spice. Medium bodied. Malt and light yeast lingers with light cocoa and light backing hops.

Sampled from an 11.2 oz brown bottle this beer poured a murky brown color with a huge foamy tan head that towered over the glass. The aroma was toffee, pine, citrus and a bit of catbox. The flavor was tart and bitter with a hint of vodka and moderate notes of pine, lemon, Windex, a bit of catbox and turned a bit dry. Long bitter pine, Windex and catbox finish. Medium body. Meh.

Bouteille 33cl @ VBPF’13.

Clear red to rust brown beer, big aery beige head, pretty stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: hoppy, some canabis, caramel, ripe exotic fruits, fudge. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: fruity start, caramel, dried fruits, mocha, bitter hops. Aftertaste: bitter, fruity, some alcohol, piny and resinous, sweet malty base underneath, with exotic fruits, caramel and fudge. Lovely beer.
