*rating overgezet uit 2015* Het is een goudgeel bier met een wit schuim. Het heeft een moutige wat caramelachtige geur. De smaak is moutig, citrus achtig en wat grassig.

Citrus and yeast in the aroma. Taste has a hint of tartness, yeast and citrus. Some alcohol. A bit bland for such a strong beer.

Had this back in early 2000's. A slight variation on the regular La Chouffe as I remember it, served in a lovely looking footed flute glass. Spicy and smooth blond ale.

Variation on La Chouffe for a Dutch client, namely De Brouwketel in ’s Hertogenbosch. Pure white, moussy, thick, stable head, golden blonde colour, hazy with deposit. Malty and fruity nose, green apple, mandarin, peach, yeast, honey, nutmeg, ginger; soft honeyish malts, fruity, drying and becoming more spicy as the palate progresses, sourish effect probably due to a mild infection but strangely creating a kind of saison-effect (a lucky coincidence?) and herbal hops in the tail. This was not extremely different from the regular La Chouffe, though noticeably hoppier.

2000 bottle from Kulminator. Cloudy amber beer, small white head. Dry crispy palate. Dry malt, dry fizz with a trace of soap. Whisper of fruit. Light minerally finish. Over dry by a country mild but surprisngly not much oxidisation.

23/11/12 - 33cl bottle from Kulminator (Antwerpen) @ home - 2000 vintage BBE: 2003 (2012-1300)
Pretty cloudy (even though it stood up straight for days after transport) beige to light amber beer, big creamy off-white head, stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: orange peel, sweet, some honey, malts, sweet caramel. MF: ok carbon, medium to full body. Taste: surprisingly refreshing, some citrus, orange peel, spices, pretty bitter hops. Aftertaste: quite some citrus, orange peel, spiced. Tastes a bit aged, but kept very well. One would never say it's already from 2000. 12 year old beer has preserved very WELL!

Old rating
Slightly cloudy golden colour, white head, some floating particles. Fruity aroma, light wheat touch, some Chouffe yeast. Light bitter flavour, bit malty, light spicy yeast. Bitter finish.
I wasn’t very impressed at the time.
(From bottle @ some random bar. Old rating I just found -from Sept(?) 2002-)

Bottled@The 1st Vaasa CS/ES beer session (old vintage, thanks WK). Hazy golden colour with some particles floating around. Slightly off-white fluffy head, that leaves some lace. Aroma is fruits, spices, caramel malts, some zest as well as mild yeastyness. Flavour is very fruity and slightly spicy with also some slight alcoholic and yeasty notes in it. Very balanced and nice. Has aged well.

[9/5/09] Bottle sample at Kulminator in Antwerp after LCRBM. Slightly hazy golden. Spicy aroma. Sweetish-spicy flavor with yeast, some malt and fruits. Medium-bodied. So-so.
