Bouteille 37.5 cl. Petite amertume noble, douceur latente.

750 ml bottle. Slightly unclear golden body with a big, fluffy white head and lots of small bubbles rising in the glass like champagne. Looks very nice in the glass. Aroma is light, mild fruity with some yeast and green apples. Flavor is in the same direction, subtle, delicate fruity with spicy yeast. Medium body and mild, smooth aftertaste. A very nice and delicate champagne beer. Probably not a big disadvantage if you also appreciate white wine and are not too hung up in beer styles, just simply enjoy it as it is.

An "apéritif" beer from a new Wallonian beer company consisting of 80% blonde ale and 20% champagne and white Bourgogne wine - a concept reminding me of Dolle’s Zannekin, Château d’Ychouffe and a few Italian beer/wine hybrids, some of which proved very interesting. This one has a thick, dense, creamy, egg-white head and a lightly hazy ’old gold’ colour with greenish hue. Aroma does have wineish qualities, reminiscent of sweet white grapes, prosecco and asti, but is mostly dominated by an acetaldehyde-rich Belgian blonde, yielding impressions of raw rhubarb, green apple, grass, coriander seed and something vaguely sulphuric. Crisp and refreshing onset, fizzy carbo, sweet pear, gooseberry and white grape, supple mouthfeel, somewhat oily; lightly bready with a chalky flavour in the finish, where the wine component comes to full development, leaving you with an impression as if you have just swallowed some sweet white wine; hops are as good as absent and this is perhaps for the best, as their bitterness would probably clash too much with the white wine-like finish. I am not a fan of white wine to begin with and this concept, though daring, does not quite do it for me, I cannot help feeling this is a waste of both the beer and the wine(s). Difficult to judge.
