Bottle shared during the RBESG 2014 London Grand Tasting - Moncada Brewery. Pours deep brown with a frothy, beige head. It has raspberry essence throughout, with moderate roasted malts and earthy bitterness. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Moderately chocolatey on the finish with some sweet raspberry accents. Nice.

Nose is big raspberry vibes, green pepper, chilli spice, roasty malts, light chocolate. Taste comprises less of the chilli/pepper effect, chocolate dipped raspberries, light spice. RBESG pt 18. Moncada. Grand Tasting. Opaque dark brown beer, small bubbly pale tan head. Palate is light and dry. Mild fine carbonation. Unsweet raspberry over very mild dark malts. Touch of floralness. Crisp dry finish. Sounded interesting but missed the mark for me.

Bottle at RBESG 2014 Grand Tasting. It pours dark brown with small light tan head. The nose is sweet rapsberry, strawberry ice-cream, red fruits and light roast. The taste is bitter-sweet, toasty, coffee, tart raspberry, creamy, wood, roasted malt, ash and burnt wood with a dry finish. Medium-full body, fine carbonation and sticky mouth-feel. Decent balance. Solid.

750 mL bottle. Pours a deep brown with a medium-sized tan head and aromas of coffee, faint fruit. As it pours I could see there is a reddish hue to the color in the light, but in a full glass you can’t tell. Flavor swirls around a bit... sometimes it is very raspberry heavy, other times it is very stouty and chocolatey. Body and mouthfeel are both medium and it has pretty lively carbonation. I hoped this would be solid like this, but feared it could be a cloying and awful mess. It’s good!

750 ml bottle shared by zharsch at a tasting. The pour is dark brown, touch of ruby almost black with a well formed ¼ inch tan head. The aroma is fully roasted coffee, just short of charred, dark chocolate and the soft raspberry sweet fruit. Nice nose. The taste is shows some tartness from the raspberry right off, then turns to the bitter heavy roast coffee and finishes with a bit of the dark chocolate character. Subsequent tastes reverse the flavors with strong coffee flavor up front, with the raspberry fading to the back. The palate is medium to full bodied, soft creamy carbonation and the roast in the finish. This was interesting, though the coffee flavors didn’t totally “pop” for me. Would have preferred a more straightforward stout with the raspberry. Regardless, was very happy to have tried this - cheers Zach.
