Bottle from brewdog.com. Golden / orange in colour. Poor head retention. Initial aroma is solventy, with bubble gum and then lots of oak / bourbon. Body is quite thin medium carbonation. Flavour is rounded the oak is full but not overpowing. Nice dry finish.

Bottle from brewdog.com.Dark golden color with small white head. Aroma of malt, oranges, floral hops. Taste, sweet malt, caramel, toffee, citrus, spices, wood, hints of whiskey. Light bitterness in finish. Good.

Smell of citrus and cognac, some apple. Hazy amber colour with small beige head. Aroma of apple and alcohol. Lively carbon, aftertaste of apple and a hint of pepper. Slightly sour. Surprisingly fresh for its strength.

Bottle from Dranken Geers, Oostakker, Gent, Belgium 8th June 2012 consumed sat outside Frank (camper) at Bredene-aan-Zee, West Flanders, Belgium the same day. Clear as clear can be, warm gold in colour with a white head. Loz gets butterscotch on the nose, she has now changed her mind to fudge, I got sizzling blackening butter. A decent and very interesting beer, the barrel ageing certainly adds something to this. This is deceptive as the strength does not hit you as much as you might expect. Tangy, fruity edge, soft carbonation lightly numbing bitterness. Good. A7 A5 T7 P4 Ov14 3.7

[Keg at Brewdog Camden] On the whole I love barrel-aged beers; I wasn’t convinced about how it would work with a lager - but I was eager to give it a go. So - it pours pale amber with a moderate off-white head. There’s vanilla and wood up front, and grass and lemon behind, giving (unsurprisingly) a lagery taste at the back of your mouth. As I suspected, the barrel flavours don’t really compliment the lager, and it’s rather muted for Brewdog. It’s pleasant enough, though, and I still enjoyed the smoothness of the vanilla, but as other people have said, Innis & Gunn do this better. As an aside though, the Brewdog pork and fennel burger that followed this was fantastic - the best burger I’ve ever had. Can’t rate their burgers highly enough!

Keg at BrewDog Camden, London. Pours clear, copper-gold with. Small, white foam head. Aome aged, souring malts in the nose. Flavor is pretty messy, lightly tangy with muted fruit tones, some dry wood, a bit of sugar, some lager character. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Mildly sweet finish with subtle warmth, toasted sugar, light wood, some more tangy malts. This is a very weak effort. If you can age a lager, this isn’t how to do it.

33cl bottle. Pours amber with lazy bubbles and a nicely proportioned head. Nose of wood and caramel. Taste of toffee, candied orange peel and then a fudge finish. The palate is medium to full bodied with a big tangy middle section and a surprisingly balanced finish considering a lager has been hit with a whisky barrel. Overall, didn’t give this much hope when I heard what they’d done, but glad I’ve had it.

Keg at Brewdog Bar Aberdeen. It pours golden yellow, with a thick white head. The nose is nectarine, pear, melon, apple, dough and floral notes. The taste is tinned fruit - apple, pear, white grape etc, hay, straw, dough, vinous and floral, with a dry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Alcohol is surprisingly well hidden. Smooth and easy drinking for this style. Actually not bad.

tap at brewdog aberdeen ... copper ... way to cold .... thin white head... soft floral orange nose ... yeah definitly too cold ... too fizzy ... very floral ... flowery ... very fruity ... quite grassy ... oddly im getting more fruit and maybe a little vnilla... not much else exciting
