A subtle herbal twist (rosemary/ mint) keeps it interesting. Bittersweet with burnt notes at the back. An aggressive fizziness that’s out of place is the main flaw. Not as chewy as I’d prefer either. Ok.

Aus der Flasche (bbe 30.07.2024) im 2023-03 getrunken. Das Bock hat eine kräftige, feine, beige Schaumbildung. In der Nase ällt schon eine leichte Robusta-Kaffee-Säure auf. Am Gaumen findet sich die auch aber auch Schokolade, Vanilie, Karamell. Das Ganze ist wunderbar cremig.

Bottle drunk watching Foundation after a nice dinner at Waldeslust. Pours very dark with a big tan head. Nose is very inviting, soft dark roast and cacao, hints of malt. Great rounded stout-like flavor, dry compared to the usual Doppelbocks that I often find too sweet. Original review text: Bottle, drunk watching the final episode of Resident Alien. Super dark, medium sized tan head, dry roasted malt nose. Smooth flavor, a bit more sweetness than the nose belies, nice earthy hop balance. Very smooth chocolate malt and caramel notes. Quite tasty.

Bottle picked up from Craft Beer webshop, Parchim, Germany and had this at home Saturday 28th January 2023, drinking along with the live Senatsbock tasting again, we had a Chicken Tikka Masala Curry with homemade Onion Bhajis and homemade Garlic and Chilli Nan breads and Raita. Pours murky dark brown with a light beige head, soft moutheel, lots of chocolate, nice maltiness, chocolate is very prominent. Very good start, drinks much easier than 7%. Score 3.8

Buddel: Literally black, medium sized loose but stable tanned head, moderate bitter-sweet aroma of toasted to roasted malt with traces of dried fruits and chocolate; moderate to solid bitter-sweet flavour, quite full bodied; (milk-) chocolate and roasted malt in the lingering bitter-sweet finish.
