Cask@Angleterre, Helsinki. Golden colour, small white head, which leaves some lace. Aroma is bready and earthy with mild spicy and herbal notes. Flavour is quite similar, but also has some fruity and flotal notes to it. Not very bock like, but still a pleasant beer.

Keg at Craft Beer Co. It pours hazy straw yellow with a very thin foamy white head and soft carbonation. The nose is sweet manadrin, tanegrine, mango red apple and pineapple. The taste is orange zest, tangerine, lemon, lime, bread, spice and grass, witha tangy citrus finish. I didn’t expect to like this at all, but I did.

(Cask at Southampton Arms, Kentish Town, London, 19 May 2011) Golden colour with brief, white head. Malty, slightly fruity nose with citrus, peaches, honey and fresh grassy hops. Malty, hoppy taste with notes of citrus, peaches, pineapple, a hint of honey and a generous grassy bitterness in the finish. More than medium body, with some malt sweetness. Didn’t think they could brew this kind of beer on the British isles, but apparently Dark Star can. Lovely bock!

Cask, handpump at The Shoulder of Mutton, (Peter Fowlers pub) Wantage, Oxon, 28.04.11 Pours amber with white to off-white head. Aroma giving a little sweet biscuityness and also some hop but not nearly as good in that department as The Dark Star American Pale Ale. Sweet also in the mouth, but taste is good and hops do show but are struggling a little with the sweetness. Its ok, but after this I tended to alternate between the Durham White Magic, Dark Star American Pale Ale and the Dark Star Espresso all of which were much better. A6 A3 T7 P3 Ov13 3.2

[Cask at Reading beerfest] Amber, with grassy hops up front. Rather sweet and syrupy, a vague dusty bitterness and a spicy tingle in the throat. Didn’t taste as good as it smelled.

Cask gravity at Planet Thanet BF 2011. Gold slight haze not much head. Some butter and hop on aroma. Bit better in mouth. Decent lager in mouth with good hops on finish. Yes flowery may blossom on finish but the diacetyl is not great.
