Deep gold with a frothy, white head. Has a perfumed, floral aroma. Coriander, honey, stone fruit. Taste is moderate bitter with a bready, slightly grainy finish and lingering peach. Medium-bodied, moderate carbonation, smooth. Not particularly refreshing. Ok.

330 ml bottle, as De Molen Fruit & Kruid Blond, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken (or possibly Sandnes Kvadrat). ABV is 6.2%. Brownish golden colour, slightly hazy, with a small white head. Aroma of lychee and other tropical fruits, some malts. Nice citric flavour, notes of lemongrass and Belgian ale yeast, hints of dill and lychee. Not very bitter.

Bottle, Bierzwerg. Jammy orangepeel, light metallic and belgian dry yeast, medium to full chewy, dry minerally body. Clay, oranges, light salt, herbal and pithy finish. Good balance of sweet fruity to dry notes.

Barwa bursztynowa, niemal klarowne, piana biała, średnio obfita, średnio trwała. W aromacie estry, fenole, owoce.

Bottled 330ml (Alko web)
Clear pale amber colour, small off-white head. Toffeish and a bit fruity aroma with Sorachi Ace dill. Light-bodied. Fruits, toffee and dill also in the flavour. I thought we got rid off Sorachi Ace...

Blonde Molen beer hopped with Sorachi Ace, with the new Bavaria style label; longneck bottle from the Albert Heijn supermarket in Lokeren. Thick, frothy, densely moussy, almost creamy, egg-white, membrane-lacing head residing over an initially clear, warm and pure 'old golden' beer with somewhat ochre-ish tinge and some disparate strings of sparkling, turning lightly misty and deeper ochre-tinged with sediment. Aroma of halfripe banana, freshly cut grass, white bread pulp, raw parsnip, herbal note of dried dill (the Sorachi Ace, but rather faint), birch tree leaves, clove, oxidized Granny Smith apple slices, green pear, matcha tea, chamomille, tulips, zucchini, even hints of vanilla and ripe melon (again the Sorachi Ace, no doubt). Fruity onset, sweetish with impressions of melon, green kiwi, green pear and some banana (isoamylacetate - but not overwhelming), medium carbonated with minerally effects, smooth and slick body; white-bready, cereally but also vaguely cake-like pale malt sweet core, some phenolic spiciness on top (clove) quickly aided by subtle but fragrant Sorachi Ace (fresh dill, peppermint, green mango and lime zest - all subdued though), which also adds a pleasantly spicy and refreshingly grassy finishing bitterness, drying the end phase and even nullifying the malt sweetness without ever becoming too harsh or dominant. Odd little beer: basically a 'modernised' Belgian blonde, a traditional Belgian style ale pimped with postmodern hoppiness (as there are a lot in Belgium itself too), but elegant and utterly well-balanced so the quality stamp of the old Molen is all over it. Still, in all its humbleness, modesty and restraint, I cannot imagine Menno brewing something like this in his earlier years - clearly Bavaria wanted a Molen which is accessible and 'easy' for the greater masses. Mission accomplished, in that sense, but the 'fire' and audacity of the Molen's earlier years is clearly far behind us.

Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy straw colour with a small off-white head. Aroma of grass, hay, Belgian yeast, lime and pepper. Flavour of white bread, hay, grass, lime and Belgian yeast. Has a slick mouth feel, medium body and a soft bitterness. Fresh and fruity.

Pours a fairly clear blonde. Medium large white head. Scent is very SOrachi Ace specific, coconut. Taste is full, bit bitter, sorachi, but not OP'ing. Quite balanced and nice.

22/XI/22 - 33cl bottle @ HoReCa expo (Gent), BB: 23/II/24 (2022-1651) Thanks to Erwin, Peter and others for sharing today’s beers.
Clear blond beer, small aery creamy white head, unstable, non adhesive. Aroma: yeasty, a bit of chlorine, touch of banana, green apples. MF: ok carbon, medium to light body. Taste: a bit sourish, yeasty, a little bitter, very spicy, coriander. Aftertaste: more coriander, spicy, dry, a bit malty, yeasty, soapy finish, meh, not a big fan.
