Bottle, fränkisches bierfest. Murky brown, low white. Burnt grass and pine. Medium to full, light sticky mouthfeel, a bit tar, singed malt, hay, a bit too much focus on the smoked malt.

Bottle at Fränkisches Bierfest. Cloudy mezzo mix. Apple, cider, smoke, lemongrass. Soft, fuzzy, verrry smoke, burned hay, sticky aftertaste.

ABV: 4.9%. Light cloudy - hazy medium amber colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, smoke, sweet malt, malty. Flavor is moderate sweet and light bitter with a average duration, smoke, caramel, malty, sweet malt, thin, light oak touch. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20230209]

500 ml bottle. Unclear amber with a fluffy head. Orange zest, smoked ham, honey cake, resinous hops, roasted malt. Dry hoppy bitterness, smoked umami. Full bodied, oily texture, soft carbonated, dry hoppy bitter smoky finish. Really good Rauchbier!

Light smoky peat-like nose, medium amber-brown. Tasty, a hint of maltiness and moderate smoke power. Good entry from Hertl!

Bottle. Almost clear amber/copper with a proper nice but short-lived white head. Aroma of malts, honey and phenolic smoke. Taste of wood, caramel, malts, honey and a little bit of bacon with even a vague fruitiness. Moderate bitterness. Medium carbonation. Neat. If I was teaching about Rauchbier (which I’m admittedly not qualified for) this would be one of the beers I‘d tell the more timid ones of my padawans to try first as it’s rather mild and easy drinking while not that overwhelming; and I consider it always a good sign when a beer like this makes me want to check if there’s still some Laphroiag left in the cabinet.
